Sinopse

What is Rendering Computer Graphics

Rendering or image synthesis is the process of generating a photorealistic or non-photorealistic image from a 2D or 3D model by means of a computer program. The resulting image is referred to as the render. Multiple models can be defined in a scene file containing objects in a strictly defined language or data structure. The scene file contains geometry, viewpoint, textures, lighting, and shading information describing the virtual scene. The data contained in the scene file is then passed to a rendering program to be processed and output to a digital image or raster graphics image file. The term "rendering" is analogous to the concept of an artist's impression of a scene. The term "rendering" is also used to describe the process of calculating effects in a video editing program to produce the final video output.

Over billions of years of evolution, animals have become increasingly sophisticated and increasingly sentient. In the process, they evolved emotions, which helped improve their odds of survival in complex situations. These emotions were, at first, purely internal. But at some point, social animals began expressing their emotions, in increasingly dramatic ways. These emotional expressions could accurately reflect internal emotions (smiling to express happiness)—or they could be quite different (smiling to cover up that you're actually furious, but can't tell your boss that).

Why did once-stone-faced animals evolve to be so emotionally expressive—to be us? The answer, as evolutionary neurobiologist Mark Changizi and mathematician Tim Barber reveal, is that emotional expressions are our first and most important language—one that allows us, as social animals, to engage in highly sophisticated communications and negotiations.

Expressly Human introduces an original theory that explains, from first principles, how the broad range of emotional expressions evolved, and provides a Rosetta Stone for human communication. It will revolutionize the way you see every social interaction, from deciding who gets the last slice of pizza to multimillion-dollar business negotiations, and change your definition of what makes us human.

In the late 19th century, Charles Darwin was sure that humans and animals showed emotion through remarkably similar behaviors, noting, "The Indian elephant is said sometimes to weep." For over 100 years, animal lovers have known that their dogs, cats, and other pets have complex emotional lives. When Elephants Weep is the first book since Darwin's to thoroughly and effectively explore the full range of emotions throughout the animal kingdom.
Scholar and psychoanalyst Masson, with the help of Susan McCarthy, presents scientific evidence, fascinating anecdotes, and illuminating insights that offer powerful proof of the existence of animal emotion. When Elephants Weep draws upon the illuminating experiences of animal trainers and pet owners to create riveting and revolutionary stories that will permanently change and enrich the way we look at animals.
