Sinopsis

Serd is known as an honorable and conscientious man. He was, however, not suited to the family trade, and with his father's blessing, leave his childhood home to join the Legion. Mastering combat skills, he enlisted in the elite Imperial Guard. After a cruel twist of fate, his life changes dramatically.
Prince Calelaine is the bastard son of the heir to the throne. He leads a quiet and studious life, uninterested in either men or women, in his grandfather, the Emperor's, palace. When a miscarriage of justice is brought to his attention, he intervenes and saves the life of a man he's still to meet. Shortly after, the Emperor unexpectedly dies, and Calelaine's life is threatened when three possible successors to the throne engage in a bloodthirsty battle.
Serd rescues Calelaine from a massacre at the palace, and they are forced to flee the city. During a harrowing experience, Calelaine uncovers his inherent wizardry talents. In their attempts to escape their pursuers and reach safety, will Calelaine and Serd learn to combine their skills, wizardry and warfare, to survive? Will Serd's care for Calelaine awaken feelings he's never had before and let them act on mutual feelings of attraction and find love?

SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2026 WOMEN’S PRIZE FOR FICTION

“A gentle and compassionate novel that explores the nuances of queer love and friendship.” The Guardian, Derek Owusu

“a tenderly written meditation on art, love and life that’s as much about the search for self as for connection.” Marie Claire, editor’s pick

“Kelly writes the messiness of power dynamics well.” Telegraph

A creative writing academic falls under the spell of his colleague, a poet whose life seems to shimmer with a freedom he cannot reach. At home, there is Michael: beautiful, steady, safe. But the poet is something else entirely—she is restless, luminous, untouchable.

As his fixation deepens, the boundaries between admiration, desire and possession begin to blur. The poet, his Kingfisher, draws him further from the life he knows, into a world shaped by art, longing and illusion.
Then illness arrives, closing in on them all, and the tightrope he’s been walking starts to sway.

Kingfisher is a beautifully crafted novel of queer desire and ambition, grief and creativity, and the fine lines between intimacy and obsession.

On May 25, the sky turns a rich purple hue and another weird crop circle appears in Teddy Rockenmoff's wheat field. Then an alien is heard upstairs in his farmhouse, which freaks him out. Panicked, Teddy calls his husband Nick in Chicago, and begs him to come home from a business trip. Nick says he'll catch the first flight, but will Teddy be alive when he gets there?

A few miles away, farm boy Calvin Meeder has fallen in love with Ben Gregorian, the star of the hit reality show Single Gay Man. The two men met and dated when Calvin was a contestant on the show. Unfortunately, they aren't together these days. Ben lives too far away from Calvin. This distance is just a small problem to deal with, though. The bigger problem he has is locked in a dog cage beneath the basement that comes from a distant planet and makes a disturbing sound.

Then there's Clint Hilly, who can only think of sex, sex, and more sex with his new boyfriend Dean Catherwood. Meeting at the hidden meadow for a good time is all he wants to do, but his world's about to turn upside down. There's something massive in the sky, spinning, metal-like, and purple.

Will these three men and their lovers live through the night to share their strange tales of terror? Maybe. Maybe not. Only daylight will bring answers after the purple night of alien terror.

What does a vampire have to do to be left alone?
Kage Marrone has been looking for a magic user who's been missing for years. His latest lead takes him to Myrfolk, where he's pretending to be human while working as a detective. When a witness claims to have seen a vampire steal a motorbike, he sees his chance to get inside the walls of the local supernatural community and ask questions.
Gilbert Neumann only wants to be left alone. He has a house within the walls, and the more days he can spend sitting on his wrap-around porch looking out over his garden and not talk to anyone, the better.
Kage is sure Gilbert knows something. He's a vampire, and you can't trust vampires. Plus, he lets a detail slip that has Kage convinced he knows more than he lets on. All Gilbert wanted to do was to help, not have a cop harassing him. Maybe the best thing he can do is help Kage find the person he's looking for. It should give him his calm life back, right?
