  Twenty years before shocking the world in Los Angeles in 1947 as “The Black Dahlia Avenger”, did George Hodel terrorize California by committing some of its most infamous crimes and serial murders? 
  From the introduction: 
  In writing The Further Serial Crimes of George Hill Hodel, MD, The Early Years Part 1: 1920s, my original intent was to present all my father’s suspected crimes from the 1920s and 1930s in one edition. I have found this is simply not possible as it would require a book that would dwarf Dostoevsky’s nearly 700-page opus Crime and Punishment. Therefore, I will present “The Early Years” in two parts—two editions. This edition is part one and presents my investigations of his suspected crimes in the 1920s. Note that I said “suspected crimes”. I want to be crystal clear on this point. My two-part “Early Years” investigations are just that—a search for the truth. 
  In the presentation of these crimes from long ago (the first one goes back 100 years), I make no claim to a “solution”. I am not saying that my father, George Hill Hodel, committed any of these crimes beyond a “reasonable doubt”—which would be the legal requirement to find him guilty. 
  Several of these crimes—without the introduction of hard physical evidence or DNA—are not solvable. Others have been claimed “solved” by law enforcement and are considered “case closed”. To be clear: These crimes from the '20s and '30s did not present themselves to me post-Black Dahlia Avenger, published in 2003. I was aware of them and his possible involvement in them as early as the year 2000, a full three years before I presented my father to the world as the killer of Elizabeth “Black Dahlia” Short and the other LA Lone Woman Murders.

  Dr. Edwin Bancroft Henderson was the son of working-class parents born in slavery. Henderson attended Harvard University's Dudley Sargent School of Physical Training. There he met the leaders in the new field of physical education and recognized athletics—and basketball, especially—as a public health initiative and a way that young Blacks could gain college scholarships and debunk the idea of racial inferiority. 
   
   
   
  In The Grandfather of Black Basketball, Edwin Bancroft Henderson II—Dr. Henderson's grandson—provides unprecedented detail and fascinating insight into this influential figure in Black history. Henderson organized the first athletic league for Blacks, introduced basketball to Black people on a wide-scale, organized basis, and founded associations to train and organize Black officials and referees. He was instrumental in founding the first rural branch of the NAACP, advocated for school desegregation, and held executive board positions with multiple NAACP branches. 
   
   
   
  Overlooked for decades, Henderson was finally enshrined in the National Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013 as a contributor. The Grandfather of Black Basketball gives long-overdue recognition to a sports pioneer, civil rights activist, author, educator, and pragmatic humanitarian who fought his entire life to improve opportunities for youth through athletics.

  “I Didn’t Ask For Your Life Story” - Well, Here It Is Anyway. 
  ‘You can’t rip velcro quietly' is a compendium of “Sam Stories”, following my adventures from ages 18-30. These were the formative adult years where I began to forge my own path. I’d experienced great triumphs, success and no shortage of laughter, mostly at my expense - however I was becoming increasingly anxious, indecisive and lost. I needed to find out why.  
  As an aspiring writer and filmmaker, I thought perhaps if I could attempt to shape my character arc thus far, I'd see how I became who I am, and harness lessons of the past to guide my future. I had to explore my own ‘Heroes Journey’ to work out how to write the next chapters in my life. I found not only myself in this process, but a broader message and theme, perhaps applicable to all. Therefore, I decided to release this to the world.
