Sinopse

In May 1864, Fanny Kelly and her family joined a wagon train of pioneers heading west. Many of the men and women who had set out from Kansas would never reach their destination. The ill-fated party was attacked by Chief Ottawa and a Sioux raiding band on the Oregon Trail. Kelly was seized by the marauding Indians and held prisoner for five months. Her memoir vividly describes the attack and her later life among her captors, as she was forced to adapt to their customs and lifestyle. Kelly's detailed observations offer a glimpse into the daily lives, rituals, and beliefs of the Sioux people, highlighting their resilience and resourcefulness in the face of adversity. This new edition of Narrative of My Captivity Among the Sioux Indians includes images of pioneer life and the Sioux Indians by artists of the era.

'If you made me angry, to me, for that anger to go away, I have to get hold of you ... I have to do something to you.'
'I didn't feel myself. I felt numb, like a zombie, like a switch had been flicked and a light had gone off.'
These are the words of some of South Africa's most terrifying serial killers, who spoke to psychologist Brin Hodgskiss in the bowels of the country's most secure prisons.
Hodgskiss interviewed several of the most notorious serial killers and his recordings sat gathering dust until recently, when top true-crime podcaster Nicole Engelbrecht found his research online. The two connected and now they bring their love of storytelling to this highly readable book.
In Killer Stories, Hodgskiss combines his interviews with the tenets of narrative psychology to take the reader into the minds of the killers and shares with us the ways in which his own journey as a psychologist and human being contributed to his deeper understanding of them. The book intertwines the killers' versions of the truth and the true-crime stories behind them, re-telling their killing sprees in gripping detail.
Journey with the authors as they lay out how the stories these men told themselves about their lives contributed to where they ended up – and how those stories aren't that different from those we all tell ourselves.

In 1978, Steven Kubacki disappeared without a trace near Lake Michigan. Fifteen months later, he reappeared—disoriented, in unfamiliar clothes, and claiming no memory of what had happened. For over four decades, the mystery of his disappearance gripped armchair detectives, Reddit sleuths, and TikTok theorists. Now, for the first time, Kubacki tells his story in his own words.

The Disappearance is not just a memoir—it's a reckoning with identity, conspiracy, and higher consciousness. With raw honesty and philosophical depth, Kubacki unpacks his past as a rebellious student, the secrets behind the Nexalistic Revolutionary Front (NRF), and his journey through spiritual encounters, political awakening, and a mission to change the world.

This is the untold truth behind one of the most baffling disappearances in American history. Blending memoir, manifesto, and metaphysical exploration, The Disappearance takes listeners into interdimensional realities, clandestine operations, and Kubacki's decades-long search for meaning in a chaotic world.

This is a guide to life in the club that nobody wants to join.

Nobody chooses to be bald. Nobody wants to look into the mirror and be confronted with an absence. Nobody gains any comfort from having a slightly better idea of what their skull looks like.

Stuart Heritage has been bald for two years. But before he accepted the inevitable, he spent a number of years ineptly trying to conceal this fact with an array of expensive treatments and terrible haircuts. Can a man go bald with dignity? Maybe. But can a man go bald with more dignity than Stuart Heritage? Oh good god yes, and this book is his attempt to make that happen for you.

Part-manual-part-tantrum, this is a self-deprecating, funny and genuinely helpful guide to being bald: what really happens, why it matters, and how to feel much less crap about it.

If so, then the characters in these 18 short stories will move you--sometimes by their depravity, sometimes by their sorrow...and sometimes by their joy.
