Sinopsis

Nanomedicine is evolving with novel drug formulations devised for multifunctional approaches towards diagnostics ad therapeutics. Nanomedicine-based drug therapy is normally explored at a fixed dose. The drug action is time-dependent, dose-dependent and patient-specific. To overcome challenges of nanomedicine testing, artificial intelligence (AI) serves as a helping tool for optimizing the drug and dose parameters. Real time conversions between these two features enables upgradation of patient data acquisition and improved design of nanomaterials. In this scenario, AI-based pattern analysis and algorithms models can greatly improve accuracy of diagnostics and therapeutics.

This book gives a comprehensive explanation of the role of machine learning and artificial intelligence in cancer nanomedicine. It presents 10 chapters that cover multiple dimensions of the subject. These dimensions are:
- The need of AI and ML in designing new cancer drugs
- Application of AI in cancer drug design
- AI-based drug delivery models for cancer drugs
- Diagnostic applications of AI
- Intelligent nanosensors for biomarker profiling
- Predictive models for metastatic cancer
- Cancer nanotheranostics
- Ethics of AI in medicine

Contributions have been made by 16 researchers who are experts in pharmacology and drug design. The contents of the book bridge knowledge gaps between the fields of biomedical engineering, pharmacology and clinical medicine, with a focus on cancer treatment.

The book serves as a reference for scholars learning about cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. Biomedical engineers who are involved in healthcare projects will also find the concepts and techniques highlighted in the book informative for understanding modern computer-based approaches used to solve clinical problems.

    A Christian Perspective on Overcoming Cognitive Bias
    So much human behavior can be explained by two motives: we want to be right, and we want to feel good about ourselves. But the tension between these two motives makes us especially vulnerable to bias—and bias distorts our view of the world and of ourselves and can keep us from doing even what we know is right.
    In The Unbiased Self, social psychologist Erin Devers lays out what psychology has discovered about bias and selfishness. To truly overcome cognitive bias, we need a vision of what an unbiased self could look like, stemming from a solid sense of identity—an identity available in Christian faith. Devers explains how a Christian concept of the self can provide the combination of humility with self-confidence that enables unbiased thinking. Using current research and illuminating stories, this book

    - describes how "fast" and "slow" thinking work together in everyday life;
    - diagnoses when we're most vulnerable to distorted thinking;
    - considers how regarding every person as a child of God counteracts implicit bias;
    - reveals psychological insights into spiritual formation; and
    - recommends practices for slowing our thinking to seek God's wisdom about our ourselves and others.
    The social sciences offer rich resources for understanding how to reduce stereotyping and prejudice. By thoughtfully integrating them with biblical perspectives on human worth and sin, we gain hopeful, practical guidance on how to perceive the world more accurately and love others more generously.

    It's not clear how change will come, but it's clear that change is coming. The current paradigms of treating mental health fall short.
    The psychiatric view of mental health disorders as imbalances in brain chemistry treated by medication fails to address the root cause.
    The psychological view of mental health disorders as learned behavioural issues has severe limitations. Psychosocial therapies that require the trauma to be reimagined (talking therapies, EMDR) are ineffective for many traumatised children, adolescents and adults.
    Neurofeedback therapy reaches the parts other therapies cannot reach. It works at the physiological level first, building the scaffolding for psychological change.
    The challenge has been understanding, adopting and scaling this obscure approach.
    Stuart Black explains how these challenges can be addressed, makes the case for Neurofeedback for trauma, and describes how you can incorporate Neurofeedback therapy into your service.

    ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
    "The Heart Goes Last" by Margaret Atwood is a dystopian novel that explores themes of control and manipulation in a society where economic instability leads to social control. The story centers on Charmaine and Stan, a couple who, in desperate circumstances, join the Consilience/Positron Project, which promises security and a "meaningful life". They quickly discover that their lives are not their own anymore. They must navigate a complex world of alternating roles as prisoners and guards, while also dealing with the confusing presence of "Alternates" who live in their homes when they are not there. The narrative follows their struggle for freedom and autonomy as they confront the project's disturbing realities, including memory manipulation, and technological dehumanization, especially when Charmaine begins to feel an attraction to one of her Alternates. The novel questions the lengths people will go to for security and the potential dangers of unchecked power and technological advancement.
