Sinopse

HVAC Filter Integration addresses the critical need for improved indoor air quality (IAQ) in buildings. It emphasizes a holistic approach to HVAC filtration, advocating for system-wide integration and advanced purification technologies beyond simple filter replacements. This book highlights how poor IAQ can negatively impact occupant health, reduce productivity, and increase energy consumption. Understanding filter technology and its integration becomes vital for architects, engineers, and building managers.

The book progresses from foundational air filtration principles, explaining filter types like MERV and HEPA, to examining filter compatibility with existing HVAC systems. It explores standards like ASHRAE and delves into whole-building purification methods, such as UV-C irradiation. Case studies illustrate real-world implementations in hospitals, schools, and offices.

The information is presented in a practical and informative tone, making it a valuable resource for professionals aiming to design sustainable buildings and maintain optimal IAQ.

This book was inspired by my previous work of Science Fiction in: 'The Book To End All Books'. At the climactic conclusion of that book, I realized that we didn't have the 1,000 years I gave humankind to create a 2nd sun in the sky. We would be extinct by then and long buried in the debris of our own destruction.
So, I decided to put all the speculative knowledge that I had learned from my science fiction novel into use in this book in hopes that perhaps humanity would be wise enough to give it a try. We can do this. We can ignite Jupiter and create a 2nd sun. And, I also answer the question - Why would we do this?
Humanity has some major challenges to its continued existence that are caused by our technology. But now we have the opportunity to use our advanced space and rocket technology and our laser Fusion Reactor technology to combine them into a major project for the world to take on.
We can use our current knowledge of nuclear fusion and space travel to send a team to create a station on the four moons of Jupiter and shoot high energy red laser beams into the hydrogen core of Jupiter to ignite the gas giant into a 2nd sun in our sky. Don't worry - Jupiter is five times further away from us than our present sun, so it would not create any significant amounts of additional heat. It's also 1,000 times smaller than our 1st sun, so again, we have nothing to fear from increased heat. BUT, we would gain twice as much FREE AND SUSTAINABLE SOLAR ENERGY from another sun and this could be utilized by both the Earth and Mars to save our species.

To Everything a Season is a beautifully crafted personal and reflective account of many years of the changing seasons, from autumn    to autumn, in and around a village on the edge of the Cambridge Fenland. It is an uplifting reflection about change: what was, what is, what will be.
It is about the miracle of the rich gift of life. It is also about death, loss, and the rebirth of the old into something rich and strange.
But it is also a book suffused with a gentle humour, with a deep love and sympathy for our fellow creatures. Charles Moseley tackles what we have done to the world of which we are not owners or masters but stewards, not only for our children but for the whole web of life on which everything depends.

The Power Brokers - The Struggle...

For more than a century, the interplay between private, investor-owned electric utilities and government regulators has shaped the electric power industry in the United States. Provision of an essential service to largely dependent consumers invited government oversight and ever more sophisticated market intervention. The industry has sought to manage, co-opt, and profit from government regulation. In The Power Brokers, Jeremiah Lambert maps this complex interaction from the late nineteenth century to the present day.
Lambert’s narrative focuses on seven important industry players: Samuel Insull, the principal industry architect and prime mover; David Lilienthal, chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), who waged a desperate battle for market share; Don Hodel, who presided over the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) in its failed attempt to launch a multiplant nuclear power program; Paul Joskow, the MIT economics professor who foresaw a restructured and competitive electric power industry; Enron’s Ken Lay, master of political influence and market-rigging; Amory Lovins, a pioneer proponent of sustainable power; and Jim Rogers, head of Duke Energy, a giant coal-fired utility threatened by decarbonization. Lambert tells how Insull built an empire in a regulatory vacuum and how the government entered the electricity marketplace by making cheap hydropower available through the TVA. He describes the failed overreach of the BPA, the rise of competitive electricity markets, Enron’s market manipulation, Lovins’ radical vision of a decentralized industry powered by renewables, and Rogers’ remarkable effort to influence cap-and-trade legislation.
Lambert shows how the power industry has sought to use regulatory change to preserve or secure market dominance and how rogue players have gamed imperfectly restructured electricity markets. Integrating regulation and competition in this industry has proven a difficult experiment.

The future of the American economy is hiding in an unlikely place: the manufacturing sector While Silicon Valley titans dominate headlines, many of the fastest-growing, most profitable companies in the United States are firms you’ve likely never heard of, such as HEICO, Trex, and Casella. These booming companies belong to a burgeoning sector—industrial tech—that offers surprising hope to workers, consumers, and investors alike.  Their role: to make a range of products—aerospace parts, for example, or recycled plastic lumber—that quietly form the backbone of America’s biggest industries. In an age of instability, industrial tech is a cornerstone of our economic future. In this book, McKinsey veterans Asutosh Padhi, Gaurav Batra, and Nick Santhanam reveal the “titanium economy,” a modern, reinvented industrial sector complete with high-paying, domestic jobs;, soaring stock prices;, and critical infrastructure. They dispel the myth that the best of American manufacturing is behind us and illuminate an opportunity for a brighter future—if we can seize it.

    What You Don't Know -...

Starting a software development project is easy … but finishing it? Successfully? is a different story. Software CAN be developed that meets real needs and its development can be both efficient and effective. But. You have to know what you are up against. You need to know what questions to ask and how to understand the answers.
A non-technical manager, business owner, or SaaS founder who is responsible for the creation of a software system has a problem. A big problem. Crafting a software system is a complex process fraught with unexpected difficulties, impenetrable jargon, and hidden risks. Overwhelming.
Adrift in a "fog of ignorance." You don't even know what you don't know ...
The depth of those gaps in your knowledge may be substantial, but they can be filled selectively by reading/learning or by hiring the expertise. But in that "fog of ignorance" there is not even enough information to guide the learning or hiring.
This book burns off that fog to at least get you the clarity on what your "gaps in knowledge" are.
This book is intended for non tech SaaS founders, managers, and owner/operators who do not have a technical background but who are in a position that includes leading one or more technical projects. A great gift for your PHB.
