  The philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche's autobiography, Ecce Homo, was the last prose work that he wrote before his illness in 1889. Coming at the end of an extraordinarily productive year in which he had produced The Twilight of the Idols and The Antichrist, Nietzsche shuns any pretense at modesty with chapter titles include “Why I am so Wise”, “Why I am so Clever” and “Why I Write Such Excellent Books”. His translator Anthony M. Ludovici states, Ecce Homo “is not only a coping-stone worthy of the wonderful creations of that year, but also a fitting conclusion to his whole life, in the form of a grand summing up of his character as a man, his purpose as a reformer, and his achievement as a thinker. 
   
  Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was a German philosopher, cultural critic and philologist whose work has exerted a profound influence on modern intellectual history. He began his career as a classical philologist before turning to philosophy.

  The 1983 State of the Union address, delivered January 25, 1983, focuses on “what we can do together -- not as Republicans and Democrats, but as Americans -- to make tomorrow's America happy and prosperous at home, strong and respected abroad, and at peace in the world.” 
  Reagan praises a bipartisan proposal to save social security. He blames deficits on domestic spending and not on defense spending or tax cuts. A four-part plan is proposed to reduce the deficit: first, a federal spending freeze; second, reducing fraud and waste in programs such as food stamps; third, reductions in defense spending; and fourth, a future tax increase but only if Congress approves the spending freeze. 
  Reagan proposes the Employment Act of 1983 to provide training for the long-term unemployed. Educational reforms are proposed to promote math and science and tax credits for parents who send their children to private or religiously affiliated schools. Many other reforms relating to port modernization, women’s rights, civil rights, crime, agriculture, job training, health care, and technology are proposed.  
  In the international arena, we export over 20 percent of our industrial production and 40 percent of our farm produce. As the leader of the West, “America must be an unrelenting advocate of free trade.” While pursuing arms reduction with the Soviet Union, Reagan insists that agreements be verifiable, noting “the overwhelming evidence of Soviet violations of international treaties”. 
  Reagan asserts that “America is on the mend” and asks Congress “to make government a help, not a hindrance to our people in the challenging but promising days ahead.”

  James Cook - His First Voyage...

  Captain James Cook FRS was a British explorer, navigator, cartographer, and captain in the Royal Navy who is most well-known for his 3 explorations to the Pacific Ocean, especially to Australia, between 1768 and 1779. Prior to finishing 3 trips to the Pacific, he drew precise maps of Newfoundland and made the first documented European encounter with the eastern coast of Australia and the Hawaiian Islands, and the first noted circumnavigation of New Zealand. 
  As a youngster, Cook signed up with the British merchant fleet before signing up with the Royal Navy in the year 1755. Throughout the siege of Quebec, he saw fight in the 7 Years' War and later on surveyed and recorded much of the Saint Lawrence River's entryway, bringing him to the notification of the Admiralty and the Royal Society. That honor took place at a rather critical point in his profession and in the direction of British abroad expedition, resulting in his appointment as leader of HMS Endeavor for the first of 3 Pacific explorations in the year 1766.  
  Cook traveled countless kilometers over mainly untouched parts of the world on these journeys. He checked out spots in the Pacific Ocean from New Zealand to Hawaii in greater detail and on a scale never ever before seen by Western explorers. For the first time, he surveyed and recognized things, and recording isles and shorelines on European maps. He displayed seamanship, remarkable surveying and cartography abilities, physical bravery, and the capability to lead men to different area all over the world.
