Shifter kids and hot single dads in a small town with a secret . . . Lynx shifter Addison has come to the quaint Montana town of Nickel City to work at a new, shifters-only daycare. She doesn't expect to meet a breathtakingly gorgeous man on her first day wrangling owl toddlers and armadillo kids. But she's been dazzled by a handsome face before and barely got away from her last controlling boyfriend. Can she trust her lynx's instinct that this is where she's meant to be at last? Roderick's toddler daughter and busy plumbing business keep him too wrapped up for romance and while he trusts his wolf, the magic of instinct can be like playing hot-and-cold with a kid who's forgotten where they hid the prize. Everything about new arrival Addison makes him think there might just be room in his little family for one more, but he has to think of Gabby first. Just as they think they might find the path together to their own happy-ever-after, Addison's new job is threatened and the mother of Roderick's daughter arrives to complicate matters . . . and she isn't the only ex on the horizon. Can they keep the fledgling day care from going under and follow their instincts to happiness?Ver livro
He’s my monster now. The Crocodile, the Devourer of Men, has devoured something he shouldn’t: a Myth Maker Witch. Now, with the witch’s dark power swirling inside of him, he’s losing control of his monster and quickly making his way through my ship and my crew. It’s only me and Wendy Darling who can pull him back. But even we know time is running out. We steer my ship to Neverland where Vane, Roc’s little brother and one of Peter Pan’s Lost Boys, reveals there’s a way to fix Roc, but it requires a trip to Darkland. With Vane and Winnie in tow, we set sail to Roc’s home island. But not everything is as it seems on Darkland. Roc has allies and enemies lurking in the soot-stained streets, but it might be his past that catches up to him first. Roc can no longer run from who he is. But where does that leave Wendy and me? I may have lost my hand to the Crocodile, but I’m not willing to lose my heart too. Devour the Dark is a MMF romantasy fairytale retelling. "Between the stars and the stone, lies the story of us." In this seminal collection, H.G. Wells—the "Father of Science Fiction"—takes readers on a journey across the spectrum of existence. From the primitive struggles of our ancestors in "A Story of the Stone Age" to the dystopian urban sprawl of "A Story of the Days to Come," Wells explores how environment and technology shape the human spirit. Featuring the chilling cosmic disaster of "The Star" and the mysterious Martian surveillance in "The Crystal Egg," these five stories serve as a profound meditation on humanity's fragile place in a vast, indifferent universe. The Origins of Mystery: In "The Crystal Egg," Wells returns to the themes of The War of the Worlds, suggesting that even as we go about our daily lives, we are being watched from across the void. In "The Star," he delivers one of the most powerful descriptions of a global cataclysm ever written, showing how a passing celestial body could rewrite the geography of Earth and the humility of man. The Future of the Machine: In the novella-length "A Story of the Days to Come," Wells predicts a world of moving sidewalks, synthesized food, and a rigid social hierarchy where the wealthy live in the sun and the poor toil in the subterranean depths. This vision of a "megacity" served as the direct inspiration for later masterpieces like Fritz Lang's Metropolis. A Struggle for Survival: Wells reminds us that whether we are fighting a cave lion with a flint axe or battling a corporate monopoly in the year 2100, the core of the human experience remains the same: the drive to survive, to love, and to transcend our limitations. Travel across the eons. Purchase "Tales of Space and Time" today and witness the evolution of a genius.Ver livro
Skylark is a science fiction/space opera series by American writer E. E. Smith. In the first book, The Skylark of Space (first published in Amazing Stories in 1928), a scientist discovers/accidentally invents a space-drive, builds a starship, and flies off with three companions to encounter alien civilizations and fight a larger-than-life villain. The Skylark of Space was the first of a series which continued through three subsequent books—Skylark Three and Skylark of Valeron written during the 1930s. R. D. Mullen declared that "The great success of the stories was surely due first of all to the skill with which Smith mixed elements of the spy thriller and the western story (our hero is the fastest gun in space, our villain the second fastest) with those of the traditional cosmic voyage." The entire series describes the conflicts between protagonists Seaton and Crane, and antagonist DuQuesne, which often break into open warfare. It also includes depictions of progressively increasing scales of conflict (equalled by progressively-increased technology) between themselves, individually and collectively, and a series of non-humans bent on universal conquest. When forced to cooperate against an alien species which had conquered one galaxy and was expanding into others, the characters conclude that the universe is large enough to allow peace.Ver livro
