Summary

In the mystical kingdom of Windir ...... once lived some twisted guy called Angus Mord. He was a shoemaker by profession, and in his free time he performed all kinds of sorcery. When his fellow citizens got tired of dark rituals and bad shoes, they knocked on his door carrying pitchforks, torches and stakes. To save his life, he made a pact with the ugly demon of madness that in exchange for a few temples and, of course, his soul, enabled him great power and kingdom. Angus Mord thus became the Beautiful Lord, the wizard, the ruler of Windir and the great tyrant against whom the whole company of heroes would have to agree in order to overthrow him from the throne.    Queen Andromache, elf Bjorn, dagger master Jason, witch Taramis, faun Gottfried, wizard Dagonar, dwarf Vonir, tiger man Manfred, dragon Fangorn, gnome Finn and many other heroes will join forces with the young heir to the throne Wilhelm in an epic fight against the pure evil.    From the Bandwoods across the River of Doom, through the Pass of the Bloody Tears, the Valley of the Dreaming Kings and the Misty Wasteland all the way to the Fortress of Crimson Warriors, our heroes will cross swords, halberds and sabers, shoot arrows and cast magic on orcs, trolls, goblins, demons and all sorts of monsters as they reach their final destination - the capital Ul 'Than where they are eagerly awaited by the ruthless Beautiful Lord.   Eric Johansson's novel Kingdom of Hope is a fantastic dedication to the sword and magic genre inspired by Conan, The Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Amber, Greek and Nordic myths…, and is also a wonderful fan homage to the legendary writers such as Robert E. Howard, J.R.R. Tolkien, Poul Anderson and Roger Zelazny.
