Summary

The theft of a painting takes crime-writer sleuth Donald Langham to a country house full of seething tensions, resentment and dark secrets.

November, 1956. Lord Elsmere, an old friend of Donald Langham’s literary agent, Charles Elder, is in a pickle – his favourite painting, a Gainsborough, has been stolen from under his nose. What’s more, there’s no evidence of a break-in. The family heirloom was recently re-insured for a hefty price, and Elsmere is struggling financially. Could he have staged the theft, or was it taken by one of the guests?

Old Major Rutherford, evasive beauty Rebecca Miles, Dutch war hero Patrick Verlinden, Elsmere’s son Dudley Mariner and his statuesque sculpture fiancée, Esmeralda Bellamy, are all guests at the manor. But who would steal the painting, and why?

Private investigators Langham and Ralph Ryland take on the case and soon uncover seething animosities, jealousy, secrets and deception, before events take a shocking turn…

Welcome to Chipping Cheddar where supernaturals are hidden in plain sight.
    I’ve had enough.
I’ve been at odds with my family for as long as I can remember.
And I’ve been at odds with myself.
Light and dark. White and black. Good and evil.
To hell with the scales of justice, my mother and Grandma deserved what they got for the recent wrong done to my beloved Chief Fox. If that means finally embracing the fury within, then so be it. Except then I'm no better than they are.
Meanwhile, there’s a new supernatural threat in town, but I’m too preoccupied to put on my badge and get to work, prompting a concerned friend to enlist the aid of Hex Support, a secret division of the FBM. This demon has killed before, and it will kill again if we don't stop it. I need to hide my secrets from Agent Kit Fairfield--or do I?
If I’m going down, at least it’ll be in a blaze of glory.
Don’t miss lucky 13—Blaze of Fury is the 13th book in the Federal Bureau of Magic series.

Autumn on the Maine coast is stunning, which brings the tourists out in droves. My restaurant, the Little Dog Diner, is teeming with them, thanks to the locally famous fall festival.Usually that's a great thing . . . this year, however, the discovery of a dead body puts a damper on business awfully fast.Add to that the fact that the victim had a vendetta against almost every small business owner in town, and now I've landed right in the middle of the very long and tedious suspect list.Looks like it's time to toss my apron aside and don the detective hat once more. Thankfully, Pip is more than ready to assist in this one, because if I didn't get to the bottom of this chaos quickly, it could be me getting cooked!

Podcast co-hosts Raspy Fuse and Salty Remarks receive an anonymous text: one of the three author guests you plan to interview Tuesday night intends to kill you both.
At first, the co-hosts think the text is a joke.
Why would egotistical poet William Z. Wisp, sexy romance author Della Molasses, or tightly wound thriller writer Edwin Nocturne want to kill them? Raspy and Salty have never met the scribblers.
The co-hosts approach their killer interviews as a fun adventure until they learn another literary podcaster died mysteriously when she interviewed the authors and a psychologist specializing in writer therapy has been treating the writers for mental health issues. Worse yet, the co-hosts discover suspicious ties between the authors and disgruntled members of their own podcast team, doubling the suspect list.
Raspy and Salty decide to tap into their experience reading and writing mysteries to identify their would-be murderer and unravel the plot before it’s too late. If they can’t, their sense of humor and wordplay will be all they have left to avoid death by podcasting.
