Sinopse

Triad Structures Explored offers a deep dive into the clandestine world of Chinese Triads, examining their history, organizational structures, and impact on global crime. This book dissects how these criminal organizations have evolved from 17th-century resistance movements to modern transnational enterprises involved in activities from drug trafficking to political corruption. It reveals that Triads are not monolithic but rather dynamic networks with internal rivalries and shifting alliances. The book meticulously explores the Triads' internal mechanics, including their hierarchical arrangements and codes of conduct, providing a nuanced perspective often missed in traditional depictions. Readers will gain insights into the socio-political factors contributing to their resilience.

For example, the book highlights how periods of dynastic upheaval and economic reform have shaped Triad operations. Beginning with core concepts of Triad membership, the book progresses through the historical evolution of Triad societies, contemporary organizational structures, and diverse criminal activities. It concludes with an analysis of law enforcement challenges and recommendations for effective strategies. This comprehensive approach, grounded in law enforcement reports and academic research, makes it invaluable for academics, law enforcement, and anyone interested in understanding organized crime.

Dickie Arbiter is the only living royal expert to have witnessed two coronations and one of very few to have genuine first-hand experience of working directly with the immediate Royal Family. Having been press secretary to Queen Elizabeth II and later Prince Charles and Princess Diana, he witnessed history as it happened from inside the palace walls.

His first book, On Duty with the Queen, published in 2014 with permission of the royals, provided a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the British Royal Household and the relationships behind the palace gates. Now, after a seismic shift and profound transformation in the lives of so many members of the royal family, and being able to speak fully of his experiences for the first time, it is the ideal moment for a new book. From the passing of the late Queen Elizabeth II to the reign of King Charles III, the Prince Andrew Scandal and Prince Harry’s split from the Royal Family, and amid an evolving relationship between the Royals, the media, and the public, this book contextualises the current Royal landscape through the eyes of the man who knows it best. As a trusted palace aide and a seasoned media professional, Dickie offers rare insight into Royal life with On Duty with the Royals — balancing protocol, humanity, and transparency.

His credibility, public profile, and impeccable reputation make him a powerful voice at a time when public interest in the monarchy is at an all-time high.

My Secret Life is an anonymously penned memoir written during a period from the 1840s to the 1880s by a wealthy and sex obsessed English gentleman who refers to himself simply as ‘Walter’. Part confessional, part investigative erotic journalism, it meticulously documents every detail of the author’s prolific sexual encounters, offering us in the process an eye and thigh opening account of life behind closed doors in the Victorian age.

Women, in both mind and body, were the all consuming object of Walter’s interest. From early youth through to old age his quest for erotic discovery and adventure with them was never diminished.

Unlike contemporary 19th century erotic texts, such as The Pearl, whose sole object was to titillate, Walter’s interest in his subjects did not end with the extinguishing of the carnal flame. His hunger to understand the circumstances and minds of the women he encountered is never upstaged by the sex. Their potted life histories, their most intimate desires and acts were shared with him and in turn meticulously recorded by him, written down verbatim while still fresh in his mind.

The resulting poignant record of a lost era and the intimate moments of the women who inhabited it offer us a remarkable insight into the 19th century that cannot be gleaned from any other source.

The complete unabridged text is being released as a fully scored audiofilm (an audio book with accompanying music soundtrack) by composer Dominic Crawford Collins.

Kat Ward is a survivor - and this book is her testimony.
Having overcome an abusive childhood - in which she was abused by family members, care staff and even celebrities - you would have thought that karma might have dealt her some kinder hands when it came to her adult life. Well, it didn't.
After spending the majority of it simply trying to recover from her childhood, she was eventually forced to confront that monster which apparently awaits 1 in 3 of us at some point in our lives: cancer.
After receiving a diagnosis of aggressive bowel cancer at 53, Kat's life was once again set on a trajectory for the worse. Suddenly, she found herself at the foot of a mountain - one that would require a great deal of support and determination merely to scale; let alone descend.
These are her memoirs of that very personal journey; from the initial diagnosis, through to the life-changing operations - and beyond. It's not a story for the feint-hearted; nor is it a medical journal. What it is, is an honest, no-holds-barred glimpse into the life of a cancer sufferer, and a book of support for all those in similar situations. It is a light at every stage of the tunnel…

Born Richard Wayne Penniman, Little Richard said he invented rock 'n' roll. Spencer Leigh claims he didn't, but the world would have been very different without 'Tutti Frutti', two minutes of wild exhibitionism, recorded in 1955. It transformed American music and world culture. There still would have been the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie and Prince without Little Richard but their careers would have been different.
Little Richard: Send Me Some Lovin' is a fun-packed biography about an influential and charismatic man who lived his life as though he were continually on stage. An influential and charismatic man who lived his life as though he were continually on stage. Page after page, you will be exclaiming 'Ooh! My Soul'. Come and meet Lucille, Long Tall Sally, Jenny Jenny, Miss Ann and Good Golly Miss Molly. Come and enjoy the company.
