Sinopse

'Beauty, to us physicists, means something we've never seen before.'
An existential PhD student hunting dark matter collides with:

- A disillusioned illusionist
- A teenage medium with a secret
- A murdered mathematician
- A trailblazing astronomer
Together, they shed new light on the greatest unsolved mystery of the universe.
Witty, ingenious and daringly theatrical, Emma Howlett's Aether explores physics, faith and magic in a play that tracks humanity's insatiable fascination with the unknown.
Aether was first performed at Summerhall during the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It received widespread critical acclaim and was named Best Theatre Show of the Fringe by the Telegraph. It transferred to Jermyn Street Theatre, London, in 2026.

The language of Poetry is an art that most of us attempt at some point in our lives. Although its commonplace exposure has been somewhat marginalised in today’s often fast-paced lives we all recognise good verse that can empathise with our thoughts or open us up to experience new things in new ways, to better understand and to enjoy the many strands of our lives.
But finding a starting point can be overwhelming, even off-putting, so in this series we offer up our Top 10 classic poets, who brim with talent and verse, on a range of subjects and themes that we can all enjoy.
In this volume we discover poets whose storied verse has captured breath and imagination during its relatively short history as a nation. Words, themes and subjects are melded together in unique and inspiring ways, stretched across its peoples, landscapes and history in ways that only Americans can.

The author of the award-winning national bestseller I Done Clicked My Heels Three Times returns with a poetry collection that transforms the Black female speaker from object, artistic muse, and victim to subject, critic, and master of her story

Resting Bitch Face is a book for women, for Black women, for lovers of art and film criticism, and for writers interested in work that finds a middle ground between poetry and prose. Taylor Byas uses some of our most common ways of "watching" throughout history (painting, films, sculpture, and photographs) to explore how these mediums shape Black female subjectivity.

From the examination of artwork by Picasso, Gauguin, Sally Mann, and Nan Goldin, Byas displays her mastery of the poetic form by engaging in intimate and inventive writing. Fluctuating between watcher and watched, the speaker of these poems uses mirrors and reflections to flip the script and talk back to histories of art, text, photography, relationships, and men. From Polaroids to gesso primer to sculpture, Byas creates a world in which the artist calls out and the muse responds. For not only does she enter the world of the long-revered classic artist, but she also infuses her poems with such iconic pop culture works as The Joker, WandaVision, and Last Tango in Paris.

'Zion' is an imaginary place of peace, happiness, and victory. It has been my life's ambition and pursuit. It has been a dream. An unattainable dream. Since Adam bit the poison apple in the Garden of Eden, mankind has been under a curse – to work at the sweat of his brow for his bread. This causes all of humanity to moan in existential pain. We long for meaning and for love. Originally, 'Zion' was the hill in Jerusalem upon which Solomon built his temple. Zion since then, has come to mean the holy city. Zion is the party, should there ever be one after the defeat of evil in the apocalypse. To me, it is something to hope for, to strive for. However, as life's problems obstruct the attainment of such a state, we begin to sink into complacency and misery. There's poverty, heartbreak, and people who want to put you in a cage. After all that - you die. Zion and Me is divided into three parts. 'Haphazard Lines' is mostly Biblical as I had recently converted to Christianity, and includes some speculation on the divine. 'This Lovely Day' is more secular and reflects again on life's melancholia among other lessons to be learned. Finally, 'Love Poems' is self-explanatory and concerns various concepts related to love like longing and sadness. Zion and Me is an attempt to explain the ambiguity that goes with the necessity of discovering life's secrets and to gain insight and wisdom.

"You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts."

In the city of Orphalese, the people gather to say farewell to Al-Mustafa, the "Chosen and the Beloved." Before he departs, they ask him to speak his truth on the fundamental experiences of human life. Through a series of lyrical and profound dialogues, Al-Mustafa provides timeless insights into love, pain, work, friendship, and death. Gibran's work transcends religion and culture, offering a blueprint for a life lived with meaning, compassion, and spiritual freedom.

The Art of Living: Gibran does not offer rigid rules but rather a philosophy of balance. He teaches that joy and sorrow are inseparable, that work is "love made visible," and that true friendship is a field "which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving." His words act as a mirror, reflecting the reader's own inner wisdom.

A Global Phenomenon: Since its publication, The Prophet has never been out of print. Its popularity lies in its simplicity and its ability to speak directly to the human heart. It has served as a guide for millions during life's most significant transitions—from weddings and births to the finality of death.

A Synthesis of East and West: As a Lebanese-American artist, Gibran blended the mysticism of the East with the Romanticism of the West. This unique perspective allowed him to create a work that feels both ancient and modern, providing a sanctuary of peace in an increasingly chaotic world.

Seek the truth within. Purchase "The Prophet" today and discover the wisdom that has inspired generations.
