Sinossi

Broadway Production Costs offers an in-depth exploration of the financial underpinnings of American theatre's most iconic stage. It demystifies the complex world of theatrical finance, crucial for investors, producers, and theatre enthusiasts alike. The book highlights the massive expenditures involved in bringing a show to Broadway, from initial capitalization covering creative team fees and set design, to ongoing operating expenses like actor salaries and theatre rental. One intriguing fact is how marketing costs and recoupment strategies play a vital role in a show's success, in addition to how the economics of Broadway have evolved dramatically from the early 20th century to today's multi-million-dollar productions.

The book takes a comprehensive approach, structured into three main parts, to examine Broadway economics. It begins with fundamental concepts and historical context, then delves into specific production costs and revenue streams, including ticket sales and ancillary income. Case studies of both successful and unsuccessful productions, along with interviews from theatre professionals, offer real-world insights.

By combining rigorous financial analysis with an understanding of the artistic forces driving Broadway, Broadway Production Costs provides a unique and valuable perspective on this high-stakes industry, emphasizing the importance of managing financial risk for its long-term sustainability.

This is an introduction to The Tao of Human Interactions.
I decided to write this book because of the need for an effective system of managing and enhancing people's ability to communicate. Its applications span business as well as personal interactions. It can be a simple way of assessing the personalities of people around you and enabling you to better interact with them. I've played the role of an employee in middle management as well as upper management. One essential skill for any good manager is communication. It is important to be able to assess the people you are managing and also to be able to effectively deliver the correct messages. It is not only important to deliver the ideas, but it also needs to be done in a way that impacts the audience correctly. An effective manager must also assess and manage the emotional states of the people involved. I have spent a good part of my life working as an employee and in upper management and middle management. I have also consulted management for many different types of organizations in the public as well as the private sector. I have worked in specific industries such as transit, technology, public works, city government, the military, and hospitality. My approach has always been to try to create effective modes of interaction and communication between employees and middle management, as well as between management and upper management.
This book is concerned mostly with daily interactions at the employee level. The system and skills taught can be applied to any interaction in the business and personal life. Management systems are often well thought out and well structured, but quite often, they do not lend themselves to the chaotic, on-the-spot timber of human interactions. The Tao of Human Communications is a system rooted in present-moment fluid interactions. 10 Leadership Virtues for...

    Read by the author.
Tom Ziglar, CEO of Zig Ziglar Corp, shares ten leadership virtues that are essential for coaching employees through immense change and creating an environment of maximum potential and productivity.
With the world changing so rapidly, many leaders are struggling to find new ways to make a significant and positive impact on their team. The key, says Tom Ziglar, is to consistently bring out the best in everyone by focusing on ten core virtues: kindness, humility, respect, persistence, selflessness, encouragement, positive expectations, self-control, firmness, and hope.
Delivering cutting-edge new research, wisdom gleaned from experience, and poignant insights from his work at Zig Ziglar Corp, Tom Ziglar identifies the communication styles that will keep everyone on the same page, regardless of their working environment. He also emphasizes the importance of closing the "empathy gap" between management and staff in order to create a more connected team that operates to its fullest potential--and how developing each team member's unique dreams, goals, and abilities sets up the company for success.
In 10 Leadership Virtues for Disruptive Times, Ziglar shows why "coach leadership," instead of management leadership, is the best way to lead through immense change and challenge. It is essential guidance for leaders who want to coach their teams through inevitable periods of disruption with the goal of helping them thrive at home and at work.
