DescriptionParis, 1955. Isabelle Duval paints the city’s soul onto canvas, her quiet life upended when Pierre Moreau—a brash artist with Marseille salt in his veins—walks into her world. Together, they build a gallery of dreams, only to find their love tested by a shadowy patron whose obsession with art hides a deadly secret.
As Franco’s regime bleeds into Barcelona, a fiery Spanish painter, Sofia Márquez, seeks refuge in their gallery, her crimson-stained canvases exposing a past she can’t escape. But when a forged portrait implicates Sofia in fascist atrocities, Isabelle and Pierre must choose: protect their friend or salvage their crumbling legacy. From the ashes of a burned mural to the glittering lies of Paris’ elite, their journey crescendos in a deadly game of truth and betrayal.
Perfect for fans of The Nightingale and The Paris Wife, The Art of Us is a sweeping saga of love, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bond between art and resistance. Can a masterpiece outlive its maker—or will the serpent of greed devour them all?

Winner of the inaugural Max Ritvo Poetry Prize, North American Stadiums is an assured debut collection about grace—the places we search for it, and the disjunction between what we seek and where we arrive.
“You were supposed to find God here / the signs said.” In these poems, hinterlands demand our close attention; overlooked places of industry become sites for pilgrimage; and history large and small—of a city, of a family, of a shirt—is unearthed. Here is a factory emptying for the day, a snowy road just past border patrol, a baseball game at dusk. Mile signs point us toward Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Salt Lake City, Chicago. And god is not the God expected, but the still moment amid movement: a field “lit like the heart / of the night,” black stars stitched to the yellow sweatshirts of men in a crowd.
A map “bleached / pale by time and weather,” North American Stadiums is a collection at once resolutely unsentimental yet deeply tender, illuminating the historical forces that shape the places we inhabit and how those places, in turn, shape us.

    - includes some of Poe's most famous works including "The Pit and the Pendulum", "The Cask of Amontillado", "The Fall of the House of Usher" and 10 others
Acclaimed American writer, Edgar Allan Poe (1809 to 1849) was known particularly for his mysteries and tales of the macabre. He was one of the country's earliest practitioners of the short story, and is considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre.
Poe's father abandoned the family when he was just 1 year old and his mother died the following year. He was taken in by John and Frances Allan and lived with them into young adulthood. Poe attended the University of Virginia but had to leave due to lack of money. He quarreled with John Allan over the lack of funds for his education. In 1827, Poe enlisted in the United States Army under an assumed name and also published his first collection. Poe failed as an officer cadet at West Point, decided to be a full-time writer, and thus the relationship with the Allans was severed.
