Summary

In "How to Analyze People on Sight", a popular American book published in 1921, accomplished public speaker and self-help charlatan Elsie Lincoln Benedict outlines her pseudo-scientific system of "Human Analysis".
Benedict proposes that, within the human race, five sub-types have developed through evolutionary processes, each with its own distinct character traits and corresponding outward appearance. She offers to teach the reader how to recognise these five types of people and understand their innate differences.
Her ideas have never been taken seriously by the scientific community, but this book is considered a classic within its genre and remains in print today.
Available since: 11/12/2020.

Brilliant, witty, perceptive essays about fly-fishing, the natural world, and life in general by the acknowledged master of fishing writers."Once an angler has become serious about the sport (and 'serious' is the word that's used), he'll never again have enough tackle or enough time to use it. And his nonangling friends and family may never again entirely recognize him, either." In other words, he (or she) will have entered Gierach territory.Whether debating bamboo versus graphite rods, describing the pleasure of fishing in pocket waters or during a spring snow in the mountains, or recounting a trip in pursuit of the "fascinatingly ugly" longnose gar, Gierach understands that fly-fishing is more than a sport. It's a way of life in which patience is (mostly) rewarded, the rhythms of the natural world are appreciated, and the search for the perfect rod or ideal stream is never ending. It is not a life without risks, for as Gierach warns: "This perspective on things can change you irreparably. If it comes to you early enough in life, it can save you from ever becoming what they call 'normal.'" Even Brook Trout Get the Blues will convince you that "normal" is greatly overrated.

“A fascinating, comprehensive, and accessible exploration of life’s most fundamental questions. If you’re wondering who we are and why we’re here, this book is a great place to start.” —Mark Gober, award-winning author of An End to Upside Down Thinking and board member at the Institute of Noetic Sciences   Is our physical universe actually a virtual simulation that is thought into existence by consciousness? Noted astrophysicist Bernard Haisch explores the frontiers of science, consciousness, and God, revolutionizing our understanding of the universe and what’s behind it all.   Have you ever wondered why and how the world around you came to exist and whether there might be another experience awaiting you after the physical body dies? Might there actually be a God and a heaven of some sort? Without consciousness there is nothing. The hypothesis presented in this book is that our seemingly physical universe of matter and energy is a virtual simulation which is thought into existence by a universal consciousness which we call God. Authors Bernard Haisch and Marsha Sims tackle age-old metaphysical questions such as the following:    Are near-death experiences real? What is the zero-point field? What kind of being could God be? Is there some place that God could have come from? How does the Big Bang figure into this? It there an afterlife, and what could it be like? What is the purpose of life? Is consciousness all there is? Is the universe a virtual reality? Why is hell impossible?

Systems scientist and evolutionary theorist David Loye argues that Darwin was misunderstood and misinterpreted.  After years of research, Loye discovered two things: less than a dozen people understood what Darwin was writing about; and Darwin spoke far more about love than he did about selfishness and the survival of the fittest.

You will never tire of them as they produce many variations of their melodious tunes. This recording features beautiful pacific wrens in their natural habitat together with other birds of pine forests. Here's a selection of individual birds you may be able to hear in this recording: Pacific Wren, Vesper Sparrow, Western Kingbird, Northern Harrier, Rufous Hummingbird, Greater Roadrunner, Virginia Rail, Great horned Owl, Warbling Vireo, American Bittern, Purple finch, Wilson's Warbler, Bald Eagle, Northern Flicker, and a variety of smaller ground and aerial forest creatures and plants.
