Unfolding through snapshots of a relationship over forty years, Helen explores the threads which bind mother and daughter together, how they damage each other, and how they come to each other's rescue.
A play for two actors – about love, grief, and getting ashes stuck to your trouser leg – Helen by Maureen Lennon was shortlisted for the 2020 Theatre503 International Playwriting Award. Everyday is a triumph and challenge for black women, and they embrace both of them with courage and faith that embody their character. As black women rise, many of them continue to struggle with common problems that debilitate their vigor to make positive changes to their lives. From relationships, education, marriage, employment, or being on government assistance, black women are the essential foundation of the community, and if they fail, the black race fails. This audiobook implicitly and realistically explores the many conditions of back women and how they can change them by steering the impediments, like depression, low self-esteem, domestic abuse, drugs, and poverty into successful directions.Black Women Can Change Directions by Changing Conditions also includes affirmations from famous, well-loved, and respected black women to help today’s black women resurrect their dying and uneventful spirits as they transmogrify their image with positive results. Black Women Can Change Directions by Changing Conditions will help black women heed the call from other successful black women, while encouraging young black mothers and girls that color is no longer an issue, as long as they redirect their attention to building their character. This audiobook is number one when it comes to helping black women positively change their living conditions and life choices, while making them feel good as they make new directions that change the future of their people.

"In 1910, when Edwin Arlington Robinson published The Town Down The River, he included what has become one of his most famous poems: ""Miniver Cheevy."" His portrait of this man, a ""child of scorn"" who ""wept that he was ever born,"" who ""sighed for what was not,"" who ""scratched his head and kept on thinking,"" captures Arlington's sense of life in 32 immortal lines. The other poems in the book, though not as famous as ""Miniver Cheevy,"" amplify and explore Arlington's sense of the fate of humankind in ways both serious and comic. He can be mystically, really Biblically, allegorical, as in ""The Wise Brothers;"" he can be amused, cynical and detached, as in ""Doctor of Billiards."" He can be both relieved and amazed to find a human life that has redeemed itself, as in ""Shadrach O'Leary,"" and both frightened and bewildered by the inscrutable lives that confront him, as in ""Alma Mater.""No matter what mood he takes, his instinct for human nature, his understanding of the great issues that shape life and fate, and his ability to find deep meaning in the commonplace make his work as intriguing today as it was in his own day - a day in which he won no less than three Pulitzer Prizes."
