  Donbas, 2014. A nameless woman stands in the street, trying to sell a basket of kittens. She has lost everything else she holds dear. Her only remaining hope is to find a home for the kittens, since she cannot offer them one herself. Pussycat in Memory of Darkness by Neda Nezhdana is an unflinching examination of Russia's war on Ukraine through the brutalised eyes of one woman.
  The two plays were translated by Sasha Dugdale and John Farndon, respectively, and performed in English at the Finborough Theatre, London, as part of their #VoicesFromUkraine season in 2022.
  10% of the proceeds from sales of this book will be donated to the Voices of Children Charitable Foundation, a Ukrainian charity providing urgently needed psychological and psychosocial support to children affected by the war in Ukraine.

  Fairies and FusiliersBy Robert GravesNarrated by Denis DalyPoet, soldier, novelist, translator and critic Robert Graves (1895 - 1985) was deeply familiar with both war and death.  Three times during his life Graves was considered to be on the point of death due to serious illness.  One of these was after his participation in the Battle of the Somme, after which he had been actually pronounced dead due to severe wounding.Graves enlisted as soon as the First World War was declared, and was rapidly promoted to lieutenant and later to captain.  Among his fellow soldiers was another poet, Siegfried Sassoon.  Together with Wilfred Owen, who did not survive, Graves and Sassoon represented the new generation of war poets - perceptive critical surveyors of the horrific and wasteful futility of modern warfare, drawing their judgements from bitter personal experience. Fairies and Fusiliers is a collection of 47 short poems and was dedicated to Graves' former regiment, the Royal Fusiliers.Production copyright 2024 Voices of Today

  This  poetic book tells the story of David, a farmer born in 1960s Australia who was expected to carry on his family’s traditions on the land. We follow his life from birth to an imagined death, spanning a turbulent time when small rural communities across Australia collapsed.
   
  David’s  plans are upended in the 1990s as the country suffers deregulation of the grain markets and the onset of a devastating ten-year drought. He and farmers like him have their lives forever changed, swept away by harsh economic forces and drought as family farms shut down.
   
  The  book captures in verse the destruction of a cherished way of life for David, his neighbours, and rural towns. It recounts the tragedy of dreams broken when long-held farming traditions become unsustainable. By  telling one man’s story, it memorializes the wider loss of community 
  and livelihood faced by farming families across Australia in recent decades.
