Sinopse

In "Reconstruction in Louisiana after 1868," Ella Lonn meticulously dissects the complex socio-political landscape of Louisiana during the crucial years of Reconstruction following the Civil War. Employing a rich narrative style interwoven with rigorous historiographical analysis, Lonn illustrates the myriad challenges faced by the state as it navigated the turbulent transition from a slave economy to a community grappling with newfound civil rights and state governance. Through primary sources and vivid accounts, she brings to light the conflicting aspirations of freedmen, white Southerners, and Northern politicians, laying bare the struggles and triumphs that defined this pivotal era in American history. Ella Lonn, an accomplished historian and scholar of the American South, draws upon her extensive research and personal background to bring a unique perspective to this tumultuous period. Her earlier studies in Southern history and direct engagement with archival material led her to focus on Louisiana, a state that encapsulated the broader tensions of Reconstruction. Lonn's commitment to uncovering the nuanced narratives of marginalized groups renders her scholarship both enlightening and essential for understanding this transformative period. This book is an indispensable resource for historians, students, and anyone interested in the complexities of Reconstruction. Lonn's comprehensive approach not only informs but also challenges readers to engage critically with the legacy of this era, making it a compelling read for those who wish to appreciate the intricate fabric of post-Civil War America.

The rise of online education has been nothing short of revolutionary. Once considered an alternative to traditional schooling, it has now become a dominant force in the academic world. Institutions worldwide have embraced digital learning platforms, promising accessibility, affordability, and convenience. Students can earn degrees from prestigious universities without ever stepping into a classroom, and working professionals can upskill at their own pace. The appeal is undeniable, but beneath the surface, there are unsettling truths that often go unnoticed.

This book seeks to uncover the realities of online education—both its promises and its pitfalls. While it has opened doors for many, it has also introduced challenges that institutions and students alike struggle to address. The marketing around digital learning often highlights its flexibility and cost-effectiveness, but it rarely delves into issues such as hidden expenses, declining academic quality, and the mental health impact of isolated learning. Many students enroll in online programs believing they are receiving the same level of education as their on-campus counterparts, only to discover that the experience falls short of their expectations.

The influence of big tech companies has further complicated the landscape. These corporations play a major role in shaping the future of education, often prioritizing profits over student outcomes. From data privacy concerns to the rise of artificial intelligence in grading and instruction, online learning has become as much about business as it is about education. Meanwhile, employers remain skeptical about online degrees, leaving graduates questioning the true value of their qualifications.

    Practical Applications of Taoism...

I decided to write this book after having written several books on the applications of Taoism in different areas. The applications of Taoism are broad. For everything that has been written, it remains poorly understood. There are several reasons for this. I have practiced Taoism for most of my life. I studied under a Taoist Master and spent many years in a temple. I have read a great deal on the subject. I have discovered that most of what is written is unclear and, in many cases, misleading. Having practiced Taoism for most of my life, I live the Tao, and I have helped others to live it. The reason why it's so difficult to describe Tao because people are attempting to do so through the lens of cognitive understanding and science. The Taoist perspective is completely different, so it does not lend itself well to be described through science or logic. In attempting to cast Taoism in terms of logic or science, most of what makes it unique and effective is lost.. To understand the Tao, you need to live it.
I teach aspects of this system to individuals and businesses. On the surface, the system is simple and fundamental. For this reason, many people are tempted to pass it off as being nothing more than insubstantial fluff. However, Taoism is much more than this. I will attempt in this book to explain what Taoism is. I will explain its different perspectives, how to experience it, and how to use it as a functional tool. Within this book and the second one, I will also teach many skills and techniques to develop your Taoist insight. This will help you operate more effectively within the world around you.
I will teach you how to use it to make pragmatic changes in your life. It can also be applied to improving business skills and other applications within your jobs or careers. Its applications can span creativity to the organization.

"The Athenian Constitution" by Aristotle is a treatise on the ancient Greek city-state of Athens and its political structure. In the work, Aristotle examines the historical development of the Athenian government, the functions of its various institutions, and the role of its citizens in the decision-making process. Aristotle divides the Athenian government into three main types: monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy. He argues that the Athenian government evolved from a monarchy to an aristocracy, and eventually to a democracy, which he believes to be the best form of government. Read in English, unabridged.

“Dude…have you ever watched two guys kiss?”
I’m not sure how it happened.
Zack promised to teach me how to skate, but instead we ended up in his bed, fully nude while watching hardcore videos on his laptop. He thought it’d be funny to show me gay stuff, but it did something to my brain.
These days, my free time is spent alone in my dark bedroom. I surf the web for fringe content like “Hardcore Gay Findom” and “Gay MAGA Redpill”, but it’s not enough.
I keep going back to his apartment. He makes me wear a collar. He films me and sells the videos online.
    My mind is broken.
I’m addicted to showing my body…
