Sinopse

Something has oozed out from the vents atop the roof of the multi-story high rise Cooper Center Hospital, foaming and rolling, and when helicopter pilot Bobbi attempts to land upon that very roof with her paramedic and physician assistant they could tell as soon as they landed that the only way to escape was to enter the building and find their ways down…. mere steps ahead of an ever-spreading poisonous mat of rapidly-evolving purple fungus. Ace Ventura meets the Addams Family! A shambling horde of new cases hits Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. in the Unnatural Quarter. Dan and his gang—including his ghost girlfriend, feisty lawyer partner, cop best friend, and little vampire half-daughter Alvina—are out to seek justice, solve mysteries, and keep their heads on straight … or at least attached. Alvina’s singing lessons for the Banshee Tabernacle Choir end on a sour note when the troll choir director plunges to her death from a high belfry, and the only witness is a deaf-as-a-post gargoyle who sits too close to the loud bells. A frustrated imp, woefully unsuccessful in betting on the nightmare races, is dead certain that his bookie BatGN (GN for “gender neutral” to avoid copyright issues) is cheating him. Francine, the salty bartender at the Goblin Tavern, is worried when One Fang the vampire—her on-again, off-again suitor—disappears without a trace. A shady vendor discovers a market for living shrunken heads that are conversational as well as decorative, but the demand by far exceeds the supply. A heartless therapist has ulterior motives when she counsels zombies, distracting them from their woes to concentrate not just on brains, but on self-improvement as well. There is much at stake in the Unnatural Quarter, and it’s up to Dan Shamble to keep the streets dark and safe for monsters and humans alike. After all, the cases don’t solve themselves! This zombie detective puts the P.I. back in R.I.P.

When a meteorite crashes on the Gardner family's farm in Massachusetts, it releases an indescribable colour, an alien entity that slowly poisons the land, warps nature, and drives the family to madness. The first of Lovecraft's short stories to exhibit his trademark blend of science-fiction and horror, The Colour Out of Space explores themes of isolation, the limits of human understanding, and the terrifying indifference of the universe.

Published in 1927 in the science-fiction magazine Amazing Stories, The Colour Out of Space is considered one of Lovecraft's finest works, and was the author's personal favourite.

Though virtually unknown and financially unsuccessful during his lifetime, H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) is now regarded as one of the most influential 20th-century writers of supernatural horror fiction. Widely credited with inventing the "cosmic horror" genre—fiction that explores humanity's insignificance in the face of vast, unknowable cosmic forces—he also created the "Cthulhu Mythos", a shared universe of ancient alien beings and forbidden knowledge that has influenced generations of horror and science fiction writers.

Sometimes you can't go home, and that would've been just fine by me.

I'm Hazel Kinsey, a special agent for the FBI, and I'm also a witch. Seventeen years earlier, I packed up my belongings and my squirrel familiar Tizzy, and I left my paranormal hometown of Paradise Falls for good. Or so I thought.

When my best friend from high school, Lily Mason, calls and asks me to investigate her brother's murder, I can't say no. She was there for me during the worst time of my life, and it's my turn to return the favor, no matter the personal cost.

Going home is harder than I imagined. My grumpy, hot high school crush, a bear shifter named Ford Baylor, has become a grumpy, hot police officer who's not happy to see me. Unfortunately, I can't stop thinking about him. All these years away, I imagined him married to his bear shifter sweetheart and living the white-picket-fence dream. But Ford is single, and he looks ready to strangle me. Apparently, I'm his mate. Who knew?

On top of that, there's a sinister force at work in Paradise Falls, and I have to solve the mysterious murders happening around town if I want to prevent my best friend from becoming the next victim.

"The Lurking Fear" is a horror short story by American writer H. P. Lovecraft. Written in November 1922, it was first published in the January through April 1923 issues of Home Brew. The story is narrated by an unnamed seeker of "strange horrors" who is investigating the massacre of a community of some six dozen backwoods degenerates in an obscure region of the Catskills, a massacre which occurred during a particularly violent electrical storm and seems to have been perpetrated by an unidentified clawed beast. The narrator soon discovers that the most sinister legends of the region center around the abandoned Martense mansion, and he decides—together with two companions—to spend the night in the big old house. And thus our lengthy, four-part tale begins.

Step into the eerie, macabre world of Edgar Allan Poe's most atmospheric short story.
In this chilling gothic masterpiece, masked revelers confront a spectral embodiment of Death himself as a terrible plague rips through the population beyond the palace walls.
One of Poe's most enduringly popular stories, 'The Masque of the Red Death' blends symbolism, allegory and haunting imagery to turn the blood cold. This is Poe at his most vivid - and also his most sinister.
    Read by Yiannis Vassilakis.

From the celebrated author of You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine,a thought-provoking, often unsettling story collection that consists, broadly, of narrative diagrams of the three main stages in a human life: birth, life, and death.
Alexandra Kleeman’s debut novel You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine earned her comparisons to Thomas Pynchon, Don DeLillo, Ben Marcus, and Tom Perrotta. It was praised by the New York Times as ""a powerful allegory of our civilization’s many maladies, artfully and elegantly articulated, by one of the young wise women of our generation.""
In her second book, a collection of twelve stories irresistibly seductive in their strangeness, she explores human life from beginning to end: the distress of birth into a world already formed; the brief and confusing period of ""living"" where we understand what is expected of us and struggle to do it; and the death-y period toward the end where we sense it is ending and will end only partially understood, at best.
The title is taken from one of the stories (""Intimation""), but is also a play on Wordsworth's ""Intimations of Immortality""—only in this case it’s not clear exactly what is being intimated, but it’s nothing so gleaming and good as Immortality. The middle, ""Living"" section of the book, is fleshed out with a set of stories that borrow more from traditional realist fiction to illustrate the inner lives of the characters.
At once familiar and mysterious, these stories have an eerie resonance as its characters find themselves in new and surprising situations. An unnamed woman enters a room with no exit and a ready-made life; the disappearance of people, objects, and memory creates an apocalypse; the art of dance is used to try to tame a feral child; the key to surviving a house-party lies in knowing the difference between fake and real blood.
Elegant, surprising, wondrous, and haunting, Intimations is an utterly transporting collection from one of our most ingenious and brilliant young writers.
