Praised by R.J. Palacio as “wondrous”—this moving memoir follows a teenage boy with TC syndrome and his exceptional family from diagnosis at birth to now. “This touching memoir is a must-read for anyone who wants to know more about the real-world experiences of a child with craniofacial differences and his extraordinary family. It’s also more than that. It’s a story about the love between a mother and a son, a child and his family, and the breadth of friends, helpers, and doctors that step in when the unexpected happens. It’s a story that will make young readers reevaluate the word ‘normal’—not only as it applies to others, but to themselves. Any book that can do that is pretty wondrous, as far as I’m concerned.” —R.J. Palacio, author of Wonder In this uplifting and humorous memoir brimming with black-and-white comic illustrations, Nathaniel and his mother, Magda, tell the story of his growing up with the same craniofacial syndrome as the boy from Wonder—from facing sixty-seven surgeries before the age of fifteen, to making friends, moving across the country, and persevering through hardships. How they tackle extraordinary circumstances with love and resilience is a true testament to Nathaniel and Magda’s extraordinary family, and to families everywhere who quietly but courageously persist.

Some mistakes carve wounds. Others, however, carve paths—twisting, unexpected roads that lead straight to the heart of what truly matters. In A Christmas Mistake, Montgomery paints a holiday tale where a simple misunderstanding reshapes lives in ways neither regret nor logic could predict. The charm of this story lies in its warmth, its humanity, and the quiet wisdom that sometimes, what seems like misfortune is nothing more than fate wrapped in disguise. Witty, touching, and utterly Montgomery, this is Christmas storytelling at its finest—where mishaps become blessings and where the wrong road just might lead to the right home.

Xuanzang and his disciples encountered the leopard demon. The monkey tricked Pigsy into fighting off the demon. The demon returned to the cave and selected three capable goblins to change into his appearance to lure the monkey, Pigsy, and Sandyaway while he kidnapped Xuanzang. The disciples eventually recognized the scheme and found the cave. With a fake skull, the demon and his goblins claimed Xuanzang had been eaten, but the monkey saw through the ploy. The demon tried again with a real severed head, which sent the disciples into tears. When the monkey went to seek revenge on the demon, he discovered that Xuanzang was still alive, so he used sleep bugs to put the demons to sleep while he rescued Xuanzang. He then captured the demon, and Pigsy burned the cave.
