Let the one and only Dr. Joe battle pseudoscience and cast a life preserver out to all those drowning in a sea of misinformationWe are in a crisis. A tsunami of misinformation and disinformation is threatening to engulf evidence-based science. While quackery—loosely defined as the spread of false "knowledge," often accompanied by various versions of "snake oil"—is not a novel phenomenon, it has never posed as great a threat to public health as today. COVID-19 has unleashed an unprecedented flurry of destructive information that has fueled vaccine hesitancy and has steered people toward unproven therapies. Conspiracy theorists have served up a distasteful menu of twisted facts that create distrust in science. In Quack Quack, Dr. Joe Schwarcz, who has been battling flimflam for decades, focuses on the deluge of anecdotes, cherry-picked data, pseudoscientific nonsense, and seductive baseless health claims that undermine efforts to educate the public about evidence-based science. The wide scope of the topics drawn from past and present aims to cast a life preserver to people drowning in a sea of misinformation.

This is a compendium of theories of the shape of the Earth, along with a great deal of 'Earth Mystery' lore. Richly illustrated, the Book of Earths includes many unusual theories, including Columbus' idea that the Earth is literally pear-shaped, modern theories that the Earth was originally tetrahedral, and so on. Kenton also covers many traditional theories including the ancient Babylonians and Egyptians, Hindu and Buddhist cosmology, and those of the Peruvians, Aztecs and Mongols. She also discusses modern alternative theories such as that of Reed and Koresh. Strangely enough, she misses or ignores the modern flat earth theory of Rowbotham. This is the only apparent omission in this definitive study. Kenton has no apparent axe to grind: this is simply a very readable survey of the literature if you have any interest in 'Earth mysteries"

The globalised belief in one ‘God’ has become a problem. The prayer ‘Our Father in heaven’ presents an image that embodies the values of uniformity, exclusivity, patriarchy, authoritarianism and the absence of a sacred presence in nature.

Here on earth, the climate and biodiversity emergencies foreshadow an apocalyptic future for humans and all life forms. To confront and resolve these emergencies, we need to apply values contrary to the ‘Father God’ image. The important values today include: diversity, inclusivity, gender justice, democracy and a recognition of the sacredness of nature.

Can we find new spiritual images and narratives that embody these values? This book suggests we can.

Reimagining the Divine is a call for diversity in belief. No religion has a monopoly of truth. Everyone’s experience and perspective has merit.

The Spirituality of Experience is a form of mysticism that incorporates these new values. Practiced historically by Celtic monks, it focuses on one’s personal experience of the sacred, and not on beliefs or a creed.
If your vision for the future is
    ·     The return of humans to harmony with the rest of nature
    ·     The building of a world community that is tolerant and inclusive
    ·     Finding a way of living on this planet that corrects the human causes of climate change and biodiversity loss
then this book may help you, and all of us, get there.

From revealing, personal letters to brilliant essays on the nature of science, these three volumes demonstrate the breadth of Einstein’s thought. The man who became famous for conceiving of the equation E=mc2 kept his mind sharp through stimulating correspondence and applied his intellectual acuity to a number of important scientific issues. The second volume of the Albert Einstein Collection offers a fascinating window into how he developed his ideas.  Essays in Science: In these sixteen essays, written at the height of his intellectual powers, Einstein sets out his views on scientific knowledge, its relationship to human experience, and the underlying principles of any scientific pursuit. He discusses his own work in theoretical physics and its basis in field theory, as well as the many achievements of other scientific thinkers—including Johannes Kepler, Isaac Newton, James Clerk Maxwell, Max Planck, Niels Bohr, and others.  Letters to Solovine: This collection of personal letters from Einstein to his longtime friend and translator Maurice Solovine offers a rare glimpse into the evolution of his thought, as well as a revealing portrait of the man himself. Spanning Einstein’s career and ranging from philosophical discussion to personal gossip, these letters are presented in English translation alongside the German text, with facsimiles of the original letters also included.  Letters on Wave Mechanics: In this stirring collection of correspondence, four of the twentieth century’s greatest minds—H. A. Lorentz, Max Planck, Erwin Schrödinger, and Albert Einstein—discuss, debate, and refine Schrödinger’s then-nascent theory of wave mechanics. As the physicist Karl Przibram states in his foreword to this edition, “little needs to be added to the letters; they speak for themselves. Apart from their essential content, they reveal something of the personalities of the four men of genius.”

The Internet of things is a network of mechanical and digital devices like vehicles, home appliances etc. containing software or sensors and various other devices for network connectivity. This enables the devices to freely connect and exchange data with each other. All these devices are easily identifiable because of their embedded computing system. Internet of things is completely based on the use of modern technologies in our daily errands. Hence, it can be said to be a product of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It can be a sensor in the smart AC which tells the user to turn it off when a suitable temperature is obtained or it can be a microwave which stops the heating when the set time limit is reached-or any other natural or man-made system that can be assigned an IP address and given with the skill to move data over a network without human involvement.
