Sinopsis

Nora Frenway settled down furtively in her corner of the Pullman and, as the express plunged out of the Grand Central Station, wondered at herself for being where she was. The porter came along. "Ticket?" "Westover." She had instinctively lowered her voice and glanced about her. But neither the porter nor her nearest neighbours—fortunately none of them known to her—seemed in the least surprised or interested by the statement that she was travelling to Westover.
Yet what an earth–shaking announcement it was! Not that she cared, now; not that anything mattered except the one overwhelming fact which had convulsed her life, hurled her out of her easy velvet–lined rut, and flung her thus naked to the public scrutiny…. Cautiously, again, she glanced about her to make doubly sure that there was no one, absolutely no one, in the Pullman whom she knew by sight.

This book is about romantic dates gone horribly wrong. We’ve all experienced dates brimming with horror, comedy, drama, tension, and lunacy. Sometimes in the same evening. This fiction short story collection captures the vulnerability, desperation, and bravery of putting yourself out there. The characters in these stories are undergoing the worst date of their lives. And wouldn’t you rather experience that thrill vicariously? It certainly seems a sound investment to plunk down a nominal fee for this book rather than go through the worst date ever yourself. And who knows, maybe you’ll learn some meaningful life lessons along the way. Or at the very least, you can shimmy this book under the table leg and finally fix that annoying wobble. You have to admit, this book is an ideal thickness for such repairs. Wait, where were we… Whether on a first date, a weekend getaway with a significant other, or the target of an intricate revenge scheme, these characters reflect the spectrum of emotions and reactions when we decide to lower our guard and let somebody in. And then it all goes spectacularly Hindenburg. Reading these stories should make you a more cautious dater. Or an expert wobbly-table-fixer. Either way: Best. Purchase. Ever.

Title: The Transition of Juan Romero
    Author: H. P. Lovecraft
    Narrator: Jonathan Dunne
    Original Publication: 1944
    Public Domain: Yes
Series Placement: Number 54 in the Timeless Terrors series
    Description:
The Transition of Juan Romero is a stark tale of subterranean dread from H. P. Lovecraft’s earliest period — a story of inexplicable terror lurking deep beneath the earth.
Set in a remote Nevada mining camp, the narrative follows a miner who witnesses a fellow worker, Juan Romero, drawn by an unseen force into the depths of an abandoned shaft. As the ground shakes and the darkness seems to breathe, something ancient stirs below — something that should never have been awakened.
With its bleak desert atmosphere, claustrophobic mine shafts, and hints of cosmic forces at work beneath the soil, this story bridges Lovecraft’s early horror with the cosmic themes that would later define his mythos.
Narrated by Amazon-bestselling horror author Jonathan Dunne, this performance brings the tension, isolation, and subterranean terror to life. While the text is in the public domain, this narration is an original performance and copyright © 2025 Jonathan Dunne.
Part of Timeless Terrors, a series devoted to resurrecting the masters of the macabre and uncanny, The Transition of Juan Romero remains a chilling reminder that some depths are better left unexplored.

Forget everything you thought you knew about "happily ever after."
This edition strips away centuries of censorship to reveal the raw gothic darkness of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm's original tales. These were never bedtime stories for children — they were warnings for adults, forged in a world of famine, superstition, and unforgiving forests.
    What makes this edition unique:
130+ Original Color Illustrations. Each page comes alive with vivid artwork that plunges you into the shadowy heart of pre-industrial Europe — a world where magic was bloody and survival was never guaranteed.
Modern Translation. The archaic German narratives have been rendered into crisp, contemporary English. The language feels immediate and sharp while preserving the dark spirit of the originals.
Uncompromising Authenticity. No softened endings. No moral polish. Justice here is served with red-hot iron, and the forest shows no mercy to the weak.
This is not simply a book — it is a collector's artifact and an excavation of primal human fears. Created for readers who dare to look into the merciless mirror of the past and recognize the nightmares still embedded in our culture.
WARNING: This edition is intended for mature audiences. Contains graphic violence and disturbing imagery faithful to the original folklore.

I hope that you will enjoy these 21 short stories featuring ideas about drones and the new innovations that we may see in the coming days.
Each one of these little sketches of concepts to come came in to my little mind, ususally in the wee hours while sitting on a very comfy-overstuffed chair in the dark.
I have these little micro flashlights (rechargeable) that fit on my fingers to shine the light on my clipboard as I frantically try to jot the idea down before I forget it and my mind returns to thinking about more important things, like what is in my refrigerator.
After I jot down the idea, I go type it out on the computer and maybe flesh a little more out and then edit and re-edit and edit again. And then when I read it aloud, I find scores more errors! And I wonder why I ever wanted to become a writer!
And the fights with my printer are legendary. My neighbors don't often talk to me when I am out checking the mail or whatnot, as they have, no doubt, heard me fighting and cussing at my computer through my open window. I must apologize for that, but you must understand I don't have muses or spektors, but instead, only and aging printer that only works when it wants to and I find it a semi evil entity.
But, back to writing, which is a passion and a need to get the stories out of my head before I forget them. They are like puzzles to me that only I can solve because most of the time I have no idea where they are going.
Anyway, I hope that you will, or have enjoyed these stories and will eagerly look for others...as I certainly will be.
    Thank You for your time,

"In the end, it is love alone that matters, the love that we give and receive."

Considered one of the masterpieces of Tolstoy's later fiction, The Death of Ivan Ilyich tells the story of Ivan Ilyich Golovin, a high-ranking judge in the Russian judicial system. His life appears successful by societal standards: he has a respectable job, a family, and a comfortable lifestyle until he is diagnosed with a terminal condition which eventually confines him to his bed. Here, he reflects on his life and the relationships around him and comes to realise that he has not truly lived and has instead followed a path dictated by society that has not brought him happiness or contentment. Brought face to face with his mortality, he experiences a revelation about the importance of authentic love and human connection.
Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910) was a Russian novelist, philosopher, and social reformer, widely regarded as one of the greatest writers of all time. He is best known for his epic novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina, both celebrated for their intricate character development and profound exploration of moral dilemmas and human nature. In his later years, Tolstoy experienced a spiritual awakening which led him to reject materialism and embrace a life of simplicity, seeking to align his life with his beliefs about non-violence and compassion. Tolstoy's legacy endures not only through his literary masterpieces but also through his profound impact on literature and philosophy.
