George Robert Gissing was born on November 22nd, 1857 in Wakefield, Yorkshire.
He was educated at Back Lane School in Wakefield. Gissing loved school. He was enthusiastic with a thirst for learning and always diligent. By the age of ten he was reading Dickens, a lifelong hero.
In 1872 Gissing won a scholarship to Owens College. Whilst there Gissing worked hard but remained solitary. Unfortunately, he had run short of funds and stole from his fellow students. He was arrested, prosecuted, found guilty, expelled and sentenced to a month's hard labour in 1876.
On release he decided to start over. In September 1876 he travelled to the United States. Here he wrote short stories for the Chicago Tribune and other newspapers. On his return home he was ready for novels.
Gissing self-published his first novel but it failed to sell. His second was acquired but never published. His writing career was static. Something had to change. And it did.
By 1884 The Unclassed was published. Now everything he wrote was published. Both Isabel Clarendon and Demos appeared in 1886. He mined the lives of the working class as diligently as any capitalist.
In 1889 Gissing used the proceeds from the sale of The Nether World to go to Italy. This trip formed the basis for his 1890 work The Emancipated.
Gissing's works began to command higher payments. New Grub Street (1891) brought a fee of £250.
Short stories followed and in 1895, three novellas were published; Eve's Ransom, The Paying Guest and Sleeping Fires. Gissing was careful to keep up with the changing attitudes of his audience.
Unfortunately, he was also diagnosed as suffering from emphysema. The last years of his life were spent as a semi-invalid in France but he continued to write. 1899; The Crown of Life. Our Friend the Charlatan appeared in 1901, followed two years later by The Private Papers of Henry Ryecroft.
George Robert Gissing died aged 46 on December 28th, 1903 after catching a chill on a winter walk.

This is a book with two topics:
Joseph Stalin - From 1924 till his death in 1953, Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin was a Georgian revolutionary and Soviet politician who ruled the Soviet Union. He was General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1952 and Chairman of the Soviet Union's Council of Ministers from 1941 to 1953. In spite of ruling the nation as part of a collective management, he ultimately combined power and ended up being the totalitarian of the Soviet Union by the 1930s. Stalin, a communist dedicated to Lenin's grasp of Marxism, formalized these concepts as Marxism-- Leninism, while his personal policies were called Stalinism.
Soviet Union - From 1922 till 1991, the Soviet Union, officially the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), was a socialist state that covered Europe and Asia. It was in theory a federal union of different sovereign republics; but, till its closing years, its administration and economy were highly centralized.
The Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, ousted the Provisional Federal government that had formerly toppled the Russian Empire's Romanov family in the October Revolution of 1917, bring to life the Soviet Union. They established the Russian Soviet Republic, the world's first socialist state with a constitution. Stress between the Bolshevik Red Army and some anti-Bolshevik forces across the previous Empire emerged into a civil war, with the White Guard being the most effective faction. The White Horror was a period of violent anti-communist repression by the White Defend Against the Bolsheviks and believed worker and peasant Bolsheviks.

Fiona Goodwin first kissed a girl at the age of eighteen in 1970. She was as shocked as anyone, and her confession to the pastor led to a failed Linda Blair-style exorcism. The odyssey that followed included training as a nun in Italy, a starring role as Satan with a wandering troupe of missionaries in Honduras, film sets in Hollywood, The Comedy Store in LA, a five-star review at the Edinburgh Festival 2019, and eventually a journey with ayahuasca in Peru. A love story of epic proportions and the struggle to shed the cult of fundamentalist Christianity are at the heart of this story. Its universal appeal is in the courage to tell the truth: everybody has the choice to keep the status quo and live a muted version of themselves, but this memoir is a rallying cry for anyone, straight, gay, or otherwise who has denied the bigger truth of who they are.FIONA GOODWIN combines a flourishing private therapy practice in Los Angeles with touring the one-person stage play A Very British Lesbian. In the shadow of the pandemic, Facebook Live gave her a new platform. Gay women from all over the world flocked to her bi-weekly shows. “Corona Live Poetry Left Coast Lesbian Lunch Crying in Bed with Fiona Show” has become a sanctuary for lesbians. Online workshops have naturally evolved from it. This year Goodwin will resume touring the stage version of the book in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Sydney. For more information visit WWW.FIONAGOODWIN.COM
