Sinopse

Master Flea: A Fairy-Tale in Seven Adventures of Two Friends is a humorous fairytale fantasy novel by E. T. A. Hoffmann first published in 1822. Set in the city of Frankfurt am Main, the novel follows the story of Peregrinus Tyss, who becomes entangled in the conflict between supernatural characters in bourgeois form over Dörtje Elverdink, in reality Princess Gamaheh of Famagusta.

Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann (24 January 1776 – 25 June 1822) was a German Romantic author of fantasy and Gothic horror, a jurist, composer, music critic and artist.
His stories form the basis of Jacques Offenbach's opera The Tales of Hoffmann, in which Hoffmann appears (heavily fictionalized) as the hero. He is also the author of the novella The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, on which Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker is based. The ballet Coppélia is based on two other stories that Hoffmann wrote, while Schumann's Kreisleriana is based on Hoffmann's character Johannes Kreisler.

Forget dusty textbooks and noble senators. The real history of Rome is a chaotic, blood-soaked circus of power-crazed maniacs, backstabbing politicians, and enough megalomaniacs in togas to outfit a farce.
Behind the marble pillars and glittering triumphs lay a world of two-faced demagogues and ruthless ambition. Gilbert Abbott A Beckett’s legendary Comic History of Rome drags the Eternal City’s glorious past into the gloriously witty gutter where it belongs.
This is history as the finest form of satire. Witness the original sibling rivalry between Romulus and Remus, which ended—like so much in Rome—in betrayal. From the daring escape of Cloelia from the Etruscan camp to the grim reality of the gladiatorial arena, no sacred cow is left unskewered. A Beckett’s narrative, both “compendious and correct,” guides you through the chaos with dry, avuncular wit, suggesting we take the reign of Romulus with “an entire cellar of salt.”
Now, listen as the venerable figures of antiquity are revived in all their farcical glory: eavesdrop on the Senate’s petty squabbles, follow Hannibal’s troublesome Alpine holiday, and endure the terrible poetry and even worse governance of Emperor Nero. The original illustrations are vividly brought to life through the narrator's sharp performance, preserving the unique charm of this classic.
So, don your metaphorical laurel wreath and ready your laughter. This audiobook invites you to experience the hilarious rise and fall of an empire—a story far richer, and funnier, than any textbook would ever dare admit.

From the international bestselling author of The Door-to-Door Bookstore comes a delicious, heartwarming story of a has-been ballerina who takes up a temporary job in a bakery, finding purpose in every loaf she bakes, for readers of Fredrik Backman and Robin Sloan. What ingredients does a good life need?Though she only just started her temporary job at the village bakery, former ballet dancer Sofie already wants to quit from day one. Her career abruptly ended after an injury threatened any and all chances of success, and losing her most beloved passion has thrown her life off track.Yet there’s something about the rhythms of the bakery that captivates her. Fascinated, Sofie watches old Italian baker Giacomo at work, and discovers that baking bread is almost like a dance: the dough is kneaded on beat, the rotation of the hands a steady rhythm, the swing of the hips like a practiced routine. To her own surprise, Sofie comes to see the little bakery as far more than just a place of work: it slowly transforms into a reprieve. It is here that she discovers the wisdom of a simple man, the joy of small things and the courage to embrace change.A bestselling phenomenon, The Story Baker is the delightfully charming small-town story of one woman who finds solace, love, and community in the most unlikely of places.
