Sinopse

Step into the fascinating world of Artificial Intelligence and explore its growing impact on our daily lives. As this transformative technology continues to evolve, it brings with it both positive and negative consequences, shaping the way we experience the world.
In a world where robots and self-driving cars often steal the spotlight, it's easy to overlook the pervasive influence of AI in our day-to-day existence. Yet, the truth is that most of us encounter Artificial Intelligence in some form almost every day. Numerous applications and services that aid us in our daily tasks, such as social interactions, email programs, ride-sharing services, navigation systems, and personalized recommendations for music or movies, are powered by AI.
Now, let's take a glimpse into the future of AI and uncover the reasons behind its increasing popularity. Artificial Intelligence has the potential to:

Automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks, freeing up valuable time.
Personalize recommendations, advertisements, and communication, tailoring them to individual preferences.
Assist in medical diagnoses, analyze complex images, and even contribute to surgical procedures.
Analyze vast amounts of data to make predictions and identify patterns that humans might miss.
Personalize learning experiences and provide valuable feedback to students.
Monitor and analyze environmental data, such as air and water quality, for a more sustainable future.

So, while we may associate AI primarily with robots and self-driving cars, it plays a much larger role in our daily lives than we realize. From the moment we wake up and reach for our smartphones to indulge in another recommended movie on Netflix, AI has seamlessly integrated itself into our routines.
Embrace the impact of AI and witness its ever-growing presence in various sectors. As this exciting technology continues to shape our world, let's stay curious and explore its potential to enhance our lives. After all, Artificial Intelligence is not here to replace us but to empower us, helping us think and navigate the complexities of the modern age. So, scroll down and embark on a journey to uncover the captivating world of AI, where possibilities are limitless!

Lex Fullarton takes a closer look at the three pillars of the sustainable development framework known as the Triple Bottom Line (TBL). The concept of the TBL is that for a project to be sustainable it must not simply be profitable in economic terms, but it must also benefit society and enhance the natural environment.

In the 21st century, the greatest threat to Earth’s natural environment and the population of the planet is the rise of greenhouse gas emissions caused from burning fossil fuel as an energy source. The rise of GHG emissions has resulted in a rise in the ambient air temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and is resulting in a significant change in climatic conditions on Earth.

Fullarton scrutinizes the problem of getting industry and governments to understand the significance of creating harmony within the TBL. One of the main problems is that partisan politics tends to fragment the factors of the TBL rather than bring them together. Fullarton takes a strong stand in suggesting that taxation systems, which have traditionally been viewed primarily as a means of raising government finance, can be effectively applied to influence industrial and consumer attitudes towards transiting away from polluting fossil-fuel energy sources towards non-polluting renewable energy use.

    The Superluminal Universe -...

The Superluminal Universe reveals, for the first time in English, the incredible insights of French quantum physicist Professor Régis Dutheil. Thanks to the development of particle accelerators, physicists are now able to propel particles (tachyons) at a speed close to that of light (300,000 km per second). At these extreme speeds, the laws that govern our universe no longer apply. Professor Dutheil's work has shown that the theory of relativity is not incompatible with that of tachyons, provided that we allow for the possibility of a double reality: that alongside our sub-luminous universe, which follows the law of time, is a superluminal universe. This second reality is another universe, complementary to and symmetrical with ours, governed by superluminal space-time in which light moves 300,000 km/s to infinity. In the superluminal universe, everything is instantaneous. It is possible to conceive of a superluminal being capable of moving from one end of space to the other. This parallel universe consists only of information and consciousness: all information (past, present, future) and the consciousness of all humanity. Professor Dutheil's thesis joins the intuitions of ancient philosophers with current quantum physics to blow our current notions of time, of past and present, of the nature of consciousness, of birth and death right out of the water.

If this book were written today, it would be called "The Story of the World's Rubbish".That may not sound a promising subject for a book, but we are taken on a journey all over the world (and beyond) to explain the many varieties of dust and refuse - animal, vegetable and mineral - how it is made both by man and by nature, what happens to it, and why we need it. We find that recycling is nothing new: man has been doing it for centuries, and nature has been doing it for billions of years. As every schoolboy knows, 'matter is neither created nor destroyed', so it stands to reason that every particle of it must be somewhere. This study of our knowledge of the earth was written for the layman before most of the -ologies were even a twinkle in a professor's eye. Geology, meteorology, hydrology, biology, glaciology and even sociology and anthropology all have their place in this readable and enjoyable tour of the earth's 'lumber room'.Though some of the science is out of date - it was written, for instance, 80 years before the theory of plate tectonics was understood - the author admits candidly when the science of the day does not yet provide answers to some questions. The almost contemporary description of the eruption of Krakatoa still resonates with us - compare the effect on our modern world of Mount St. Helens and Eyjafjallajökull in recent decades.Miss Gaye shows that far from everything in nature's lumber room being rubbish, every speck of dust has a purpose. The dust-cart (garbage truck) will never look the same to you again. (Summary by Ruth Golding)
