Summary

Deep underground lies a prison filled with idealistic men who have committed themselves to putting the best interest of their prisoners first . . . through torture. Soaring high in an adjoining nation are two "reformed" prisons where life prisoners (and a few sympathetic guards) must band together for survival.
Friendships between prisoners and guards, romance between two torturers, a young woman's appalled discovery that a dungeon-worker is courting her, desire and companionship in prison cells, a teenage guard's struggle to survive when his train is attacked by soldiers intent on slaughter . . . The two nations are broiling with events centered upon their prisons.
This historical speculative fiction volume explores with drama and dry humor the complexities of prison life in the nineteenth century, while taking a peek at the surrounding societies in the nations' alternate universe. Characters who appear in one story reappear in other stories, seen from a different perspective and at a different age.
This first volume of Dark Light collects seventeen stories from Turn-of-the-Century Toughs, a cycle of alternate history series (Dark Light, Waterman, Life Prison, Commando, Michael's House, and The Eternal Dungeon) about disreputable men on the margins of society, and the men and women who care for them. Set between the 1880s and the 1910s, the cycle's novels and stories take place in an alternative version of America that was settled by inhabitants of the Old World in ancient times.

“Sands writes books that keep readers coming back for more.”Katie MacAlister, author of A Girl’s Guide to Vampires In the world of the sexy and seductive Argeneau family of vampires, true love is good from the first bite to the last. Love Bites is a classic from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Lynsay Sands, the second volume in her much beloved Argeneau series—the  story of an achingly hot three hundred year-old bachelor immortal and the beautiful coroner he chooses as his lifemate. Paranormal romance just doesn’t get any tastier than this!

When Barbary Pride lions are blamed for the brutal murder of a she-wolf-shifter, animosity flares and tempers ignite. In a moment of desperation, the victim's mate kidnaps Jizette and threatens to return her, one piece at a time, until the murderer is turned over to Timberline pack.
Kash is afraid his grief-stricken friend will follow through with his grisly threat, so he hides the terrified cat, giving her pride time to investigate the murder. Jizette isn't sure what to think of her rescuer. He's gruff and aggressive, and stirs feelings she doesn't want to feel. Interspecies couples are shunned. Forbidden. Yet, the flash of his eyes, and the press of his muscular body, make her burn as never before.
To protect her, Kash must take her beyond the walls of Alpha Colony, and expose her to a world she's never experienced before. His rash plan might incinerate the sheltered beauty, or free her to become more than she ever dreamed possible.
SCORCHER warning! This series is hotter than my other books and features scenes guaranteed to make you squirm. If you're offended by sensual spanking, light bondage, or seriously dominant males, please choose one of my less erotic books. Either way, enjoy!
From Cyndi: The Alpha Colony series has always been a fan favorite and I'm hoping the re-launch will introduce these highly sensual paranormal stories to some new readers. This series is set in the near future and features shapeshifters, primarily feline but I throw in a wolf-shifter or two. All four books are just $0.99, so I hope you'll check them out.

The first installment in a fabulous dark urban fantasy series—think Kill Bill with demons and gangsters instead of martial arts—from the award-winning author of the Iron Codex trilogy and Vertigo comic Coffin Hill.
Ava has spent the last hundred years as a hellhound, the indentured servant of a reaper who hunts errant souls and sends them to Hell. When a human necromancer convinces her to steal her reaper’s scythe, Ava incurs the wrath of the demon Lilith, her reaper’s boss.
As punishment for her transgression, Lilith orders Ava to track down the last soul in her reaper’s ledger . . . or die trying.
But after a hundred years of servitude, it’s time for payback. And Hell hath no fury like an avenging Ava. . . .

Peopled by an intelligent, though primitive, leonine race, the planet seems ripe for humanity's best intentions. Within two decades, the idyllic world has became the smoldering battleground for a genocidal war. Along with Paradise and Purgatory, Resnick's latest novel forms a triptych that uses distant worlds and imaginary peoples to illustrate the West's disastrous attempts to bring "civilization" to underdeveloped nations. The author's use of irony and understatement augment the passion that underlies this cautionary tale. – from Library Journal
