One day, Eason Wickham will push his next-door neighbor down the stairs. Nate Allen might be hot, but he's the most annoying person Eason has ever met. He has no respect for the people living in the building, and night after night, he has a party. Whenever Eason rings his doorbell and tells him to keep it down, he flirts and tries to get Eason to come inside.
Calling the cops does not affect Nate's behavior, and neither do Eason's angry Post-It notes. But when Eason is hit by a car and fractures his leg, Nate sends his friends packing and makes sure Eason is okay. He cooks for him, shops for him, and does his laundry, but he's still the most annoying person Eason has ever met. Right?
The cute Post-Its Nate leaves for him to find doesn't mean he's a different person, and while Eason longs for when Nate gets off work every day, it doesn't mean they should be more than friends. Does it?

Felix Becker is trying to figure out where he belongs in New Jersey. After spending nearly a decade in Texas in a codependent, though platonic, relationship with his best friend, recent Stanley Cup winner Rowan Foley, it's time to move on. His new condo is fine, but things finally start to look up when he meets his cute neighbor, Will.

Will Knight's third book is destroying him. The final installment of his horror trilogy is past due, and he can't figure out how to end it. He's got family drama that is consuming him, and his mental health is as fragile as glass. His new neighbor, however, is the perfect distraction.

The thrum of Felix's anxiety quiets around Will, and it's not long before he's in a free fall for his novelist. But Will is harboring secrets, and Felix's genuine affection for him is more terrifying than his novels.

To make her films, Eva must take out her eyes and use them as batteries. To make her art, Finn must cut open her chest and remove her lungs and heart. To write her novels, Grace must use her blood to power the word processor.
Suture shares three interweaving stories of artists tearing themselves open to make art. Each artist baffles their family, or harms their loved ones, with their necessary sacrifices. Eva's wife worries about her mental health; Finn's teenager follows in her footsteps, using forearm bones for drumsticks; Grace's network constantly worries about the prolific writer's penchant for self-harm, and the over-use of her vitals for art.
The result is a hyper-real exploration of the cruelties we commit and forgive in ourselves and others. Brewer brings a unique perspective to mental illness while exploring how support systems in relationships—spousal, parental, familial—can be both helpful and damaging.
This exciting debut novel is a highly original meditation on the fractures within us, and the importance of empathy as medicine and glue.
