Summary

Creating E-books in epub format is very important to sell E-books in electronic book stores. Most publishing and distribution E-book stores will not accept the epub format document for E-book if it includes any warnings or errors when validated and that is a very big challenge to all authors.
I devoted this book to evaluate some tools that can be used for creating, validating and editing E-books to be in proper Epub format without errors.
Personally, I suggest the following guidelines for preparing E-book in Epub format.
• Write the document in Microsoft word as .docx file. Make sure to properly setup the h1headings and h2 headings and h3 headings on each section of the document as these data are the most important data used by the Epub management software to convert the document to epub format.
• Convert the Microsoft document to Epub format using Calibre E-book management software. Add all required metadata and the cover and also create a table of contents when converting the file.
• Using any Epub reader, check if the layout of epub document according to the headings you made on the word document is good and comfortable to any reader.
• Validate the epub document to see if it has errors and warnings using the website http://validator.idpf.org.
• Then try to troubleshoot and identify the exact location of the errors detected by the epub validator on the epub document by tracing the code view of the epub document using Sigil epub editor. Then, modify the word document to eliminate the errors. And reconvert the word document to epub format using Calibre E-book management software. Validate the updated epub document for any errors again.
This book contains the following sections:
1. Some online publishing and distribution stores
2. Epub Validators
3. Creation Epub file through online websites
4. Common software's to convert a file to Epub format
5. Converting document to Epub format using Calibre software
6. Editing Epub documents using Sigil Epub Editor

Getting What We Deserve - Health...

A leading public health expert presents a frank diagnosis of the U.S. healthcare system and the role we all play in our own wellness.

Through his groundbreaking work in clinical medicine and public health, Alfred Sommer has saved countless lives. But doctors can only do so much. In this blunt assessment of the American healthcare system, Sommer argues that human behavior has a stronger effect on wellness than almost any other factor.

Despite exciting advances in genomic research and cutting-edge medicine, the best defense against most illness remains simple, low-tech habits such as proper hand washing, regular exercise, a balanced diet, and not smoking. But rather than focusing on wellness, many Americans would rather wait for medical science to cure them once they become sick. Sommer argues that this overconfidence in medical technology comes at a terrible cost.

The benefits of almost all newly developed treatments are marginal, while their costs are high. The United States spends nearly twice as much on health care as the rest of the developed world, yet has higher infant mortality rates and shorter longevity than most nations. In this engaging and well-informed study, Sommer makes a persuasive chase for changing the way Americans approach healthcare.

Cutting costs is a common corporate refrain. But if you constantly slash expenditures, what happens to innovation? How can you stay competitive and satisfy customers?
This book's revolutionary approach broadens the definition of innovation beyond products to the business model itself. With costovation, you let go of assumptions, take a fresh look at the market, and relentlessly focus on what customers really want.
Consider Planet Fitness--it grew to 7.3 million members by concentrating on casual exercisers. They want easy, low-cost access to good equipment. Although it's inexpensive to run, Planet Fitness ranks highest in gym satisfaction.
Packed with examples and interactive exercises, Costovation explores cost innovation strategies that work for big and small companies alike including:open innovation and cost-sharing,simplifying products and turning waste into new offerings, how rivals are carving out niches, protecting positions, and dominating industries.
Innovation and cost-cutting are not opposites. Combined, they expose untapped opportunities to outsmart and underspend competitors.

    The Moral Underground - How...

A “fascinating” look at the disconnect between corporate policies and workers’ real lives—and the everyday heroes who try to help (Publishers Weekly).   For the poor, there are challenges every day that they don’t have extra money to solve: a sick kid, car trouble, an unexpected dentist bill. The obstacles can make it harder to hold on to a job—but a job loss would be catastrophic. However, there are countless unsung heroes who bend or break the rules to help those millions of Americans with impossible schedules, paychecks, and lives make it from paycheck to paycheck. This book tells their stories.   Whether it’s a nurse choosing to treat an uninsured child, a supervisor deciding to overlook infractions, or a restaurant manager sneaking food to a worker’s children, middle-class Americans are secretly refusing to be complicit in a fundamentally unfair system that puts a decent life beyond the reach of the working poor.   In this tale of a kind of economic disobedience—told in whispers to Lisa Dodson over the course of eight years of research across the country—hundreds of supervisors, teachers, and health care professionals describe intentional acts of defiance that together tell the story of a quiet revolt, of a moral underground that has grown in response to an immoral economy. It documents a whole new phenomenon—people reaching across America’s economic fault line—and provides an account of the human consequences and lives behind the business-page headlines.   “If only this book had been published in 2007. Then the hundreds of people interviewed by Lisa Dodson would have been able to pass along an important piece of advice: What’s good for business is not necessarily good for America.” —Time
