Sinopsis

Economic Gaps meticulously examines the persistent economic inequality between women and men, focusing on structural barriers in developed economies. The book argues that these economic gaps, such as the wage gap, aren't solely due to individual choices but are deeply rooted in societal and economic systems. Interestingly, even with advancements in education and legislation, gender-based disparities continue to permeate the workforce, affecting women's labor force participation and access to economic opportunities.

The book progresses by first defining core concepts like income disparity and economic access, then explores the underlying causes, including occupational segregation and implicit bias in hiring practices. It highlights how the undervaluation of female-dominated roles and challenges in work-life balance further exacerbate these inequalities. For instance, the book reveals how societal norms and unconscious biases often limit women's professional advancement, impacting their overall economic outcomes.

Finally, Economic Gaps proposes strategies to reduce these disparities at individual, organizational, and policy levels. It uses various data sources and analytical methods, bridging economics, sociology, and public policy to offer a comprehensive understanding and potential solutions. This approach makes the book valuable for students, policymakers, and anyone seeking to address gender inequality.

There is one point that contemporary psychology and centuries old Eastern Buddhist and Taoist teachings agree on: if you wish to experience less suffering, you must change the way you see yourself. ● In Part Two, overcome self-obsession. Free yourself from your psychological prison, and learn how to live the peaceful and joyful life that you deserve.

    * "Whoever works for God, his work will be done by itself."
    * "Keep God in your heart like you keep money in the bank."

Neem Karoli Baba known to his followers as Maharaj-ji - was a great Hindu guru, mystic, and devotee of Lord Hanuman. He is very well known outside India for being the spiritual master of a number of prominent Americans who traveled to India in the 1960s and 70s, including spiritual teachers Ram Dass, Bhagavan Das, and musicians Krishna Das and Jai Uttal. His ashrams are in Kainchi, Vrindavan, Rishikesh, Shimla, Neem Karoli village near Khimasepur in Farrukhabad, Bhumiadhar, Hanumangarhi, Delhi in India, and in Taos, New Mexico. Maharaji was a lifelong adept of bhakti-yoga and encouraged service to others (seva) as the highest form of unconditional devotion to God.

There can be no biography of him. Facts are few, stories many. He seems to have been known by different names in many parts of India, appearing and disappearing through the years. His non-Indian devotees of recent years knew him as Neem Karoli Baba, but mostly as “Maharajji” – a nickname so commonplace in India that one can often hear a tea vendor addressed thus. Just as he said, he was "nobody". He gave no discourses; the briefest, simplest stories were his teachings. Usually, he sat or lay on a wooden bench wrapped in a plaid blanket while a few devotees sat around him. Visitors came and went; they were given food, a few words, a nod, a pat on the head or back, and they were sent away. There was gossip and laughter for he loved to joke.
