Summary

The drums of Revolutionary War beat in the time travel series from the “masterful” national bestselling author of the Pearls and the Crown novels (Extrapolations).   A time loop drops historian and time traveler Noel Kedran into the Revolutionary War—and into a deadly battle with himself. While America fights for its independence, Noel wages a desperate struggle against his evil twin, Leon.   Leon’s plan is to assassinate George Washington and change the course of the Revolutionary War. If the plot succeeds, history will be as warped as Leon’s mind. Now it’s up to Noel to defeat the British army, and his own worst enemy—himself.   “Chester is a world class fantasist.” —The Best Reviews

    I'm bound to a demon
For my entire life, I avoided magic at all costs. Now, I'm responsible for a demon who wields magic more powerful than the toughest mage or sorcerer.
    Demons are evil
That's what my textbooks say. That's what I see. He's ruthless, he's temperamental, he's cold. But he protects me without fail. I wonder if he's hiding a heart behind his hostility.
    My demon is a monster
Whether he's heartless or not, my contract with him is illegal and beyond dangerous. Together, we must find a way to return him to his own world before anyone discovers our secret. If that wasn't bad enough, I've come to realize something else: My demon isn't the only monster I should be worried about.

    Samsara- The First Season
That Fated Night is a short prequel novella outlining exactly what happened on that night in 1875, when Abigail was abandoned at Emiliani House in Scotland. I wrote it as a heartfelt thank you to those who have read everything in this series and still wanted more.
Samsara’—meaning reincarnation—was written as one enormous novel of 1.6 million words and spans from 1890 to 1968. I have broken the first series up into twelve separate novels, becoming a serial rather than a series. These are not stand-alone books with a start, middle and end. Instead, the story flows continuously from book to book—spanning an entire lifetime. I highly recommend that you read them in order.
This epic series was first available on Wattpad from 2016 to 2019 as The Golden Glow Chronicles, and for a brief time on Amazon. Since then, the story continued to develop as Volume Two (1790-1875) Volume Three (1968-2063) and Volume Four (2063-3000 and beyond) were written, each containing up to 12 books per season. As a result, all twelve novels in Volume One have been rewritten and published as Samsara- The First Season in December 2021.
The first BIG book in the series, The Golden Glow, is free as an ebook to all my readers and is available to buy in paperback and audiobook from my website, jlmartinauthor.com and leading online platforms and bookstores.
This prequel novella, That Fated Night, is my gift to you. It is available (eBook) only from my website when you sign up for my newsletter or online platforms for the free audiobook. Also available for purchase in paperback as a bonus to add to your bookshelf next to Samsara for those like me who like to hold a physical book in your hand.

The Throg task force struck the Terran survey camp a few minutes after dawn, without warning, and with a deadly precision which argued that the aliens had fully reconnoitered and prepared that attack. Eye-searing lances of energy lashed back and forth across the base with methodical accuracy. And a single cowering witness, flattened on a ledge in the heights above, knew that when the last of those yellow-red bolts fell, nothing human would be left alive down there. And so Shann Lantee, most menial of the Terrans attached to the camp on the planet Warlock, was left alone and weaponless in the strange, hostile world, the human prey of the aliens from space and the aliens on the ground alike. Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Jack London / H.H. Knibbs-inspired, selfless, poetry-spouting, hobo character, Bridge, makes another appearance in the novellete, The Oakdale Affair (original title, Bridge and the Oskalooska Kid). Joining the poetic hobo in this gothic-like tale are many other unusual elements: dark mysterious nights, a deserted haunted farmhouse, a violent thunderstorm, the Oskalooska Kid, a nameless girl, thieves and murderers, Beppo the bear, and other surprises. The Oakdale Affair is a deep mystery and would puzzle even Sherlock Holmes.
