Sinopse

Raised in rural Wisconsin, David Greske grew up feeding chickens, milking cows, and watching Saturday afternoon creature features. Not necessarily in that order. He has been writing horror stories since the age of seven and one of his first literary endeavors was a rip-off of a Dark Shadows episode. Many years later his stories have appeared in Black Ink Horror, Back Roads, Thirteen, and Dark Moon Digest. His published novels include ANATHEMA, NIGHT WHISPERS, RETRIBUTION, BLOOD RIVER, as well as HARLOW and WHISTLESTOP, both available through Black Bed Sheet Books. He co-wrote the screenplay to his novel, BLOOD RIVER, which has been made into a feature film by ForbesFilm.

“What in the world did I just read?!” - Sarah McCarthy, Netgalley
    Hungry for a disturbing mystery?
The Little Season is part splatterpunk, part horror thriller, and totally bizarre!
Talons is a new restaurant looking for food tasters, and Jordan Carter jumped at the chance to join the focus group.
However, the qualifying questions embarrassed him. The first appetizer was a stale piece of bread. And worst of all, Jordan felt sick after the meal.
When Talons offers him double the money for a second tasting, he agrees and shrugs off the illness as a coincidence.
After the second meal, though, he’s convinced something is wrong. Daily nightmares and concerning voices culminate in Jordan vomiting blood. Doctors can find nothing physically wrong with him, and medical tests determine the blood isn’t even his.
Feeling scared and alone, Jordan dives into a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, astrology, crystal healing, secret societies, and new-age "science to unravel Talon's ancient secret.
Warning: If you can get past the first chapter, you're gonna have a good time
    Early reviews
"S.C. Mendes can write the most disgusting horror, but has great characters that always remind you tomorrow is never a guarantee, but there is hope." - Dorie Koch, Netgalley
“At first I was like… I don’t think that this will be for me, I just didn’t vibe with it. But the more I read the more I couldn’t put it down, and when I read the last page I was like WHAT!!! I wanted more to the story! Fast paced, short little novel that you will either love or hate.” - Haley Carter, Netgalley
“I love the artwork throughout this book. It's a fun splatterpunk read for people who like other writers in the splatterpunk/ extreme horror genre like Nikki Noir.” - Destini Doss, Netgalley

    Title: From Beyond
    Author: H. P. Lovecraft
    Narrator: Jonathan Dunne
    Original Publication: 1934
    Public Domain: Yes
    Series: Timeless Terrors
    Number: 109
    Description:
From Beyond is a chilling tale of forbidden science and unseen dimensions, in which the boundaries between reality and nightmare are catastrophically dissolved.
The story follows an unnamed narrator who recounts his association with the brilliant yet unhinged scientist Crawford Tillinghast. Obsessed with unlocking hidden layers of existence, Tillinghast constructs a machine designed to stimulate the human pineal gland — a device he claims will allow the mind to perceive realities that lie beyond ordinary sensory limitations.
When activated, the machine does not merely expand perception — it shatters it. The narrator soon becomes aware of writhing, luminous entities occupying the same physical space as humanity, creatures previously invisible only because human senses were mercifully blind to them. What was once unseen now presses close, monstrous and incomprehensible.
As Tillinghast exults in his terrible discovery, the narrator is overcome with mounting dread. The revelation is not enlightenment but violation — an intrusion of alien life into the fragile sphere of human understanding. Science, in its arrogance, has torn open a veil that was never meant to be lifted.
Narrated by Amazon-bestselling horror author Jonathan Dunne, this performance captures the mounting tension and otherworldly dread at the heart of Lovecraft’s vision. From Beyond remains a haunting exploration of what may lurk just outside the narrow limits of human perception — waiting for the moment we learn how to see.

There are horror stories and there are histories. Horrors are invented histories, the truth. Most of the time.Sometimes however, the line between these two genres blurs, what should be history becomes a horror story and what should be fictional horror, steps menacingly into our history. In the Northern English seaside town of Blackpool there is an amusement park called the Pleasure Beach. For almost a century, children have enjoyed the rides and entertainment in this fun filled place and yet, for almost as long, they have run at full speed past the curious figure of the Laughing Man. A dummy, seated in a glass display case that allows awful cackle to ring across the park. He is a well known part of the area's history and also one of its horrors.Unlike with other horror stories, this one comes with evidence. Photos, videos, eye witness accounts. This is no longer fiction.

This story takes place in the ancient valley of Nis, in vegetation-covered stone ruins described by Lovecraft in great detail. These crumbling blocks of monolithic stone now serve only for grey toads and snakes to nest under. Interspersed in the ruins are large trees that are home to little apes. Through the bottom of this valley runs the great, slimy red river called Than. "Memory" involves only two characters: "the Genie that haunts the moonbeams" and "the Daemon of the Valley". The Genie inquires of the Daemon who it was that long ago placed the stones that were now the desolate ruin near the river Than. The Daemon replies that he remembers the name of the creatures "clearly," but only because their name rhymed with that of the river: they were called Man. He also remembers "dimly" that they appeared like the small apes that now leap through the ruins. The Genie flies back to his moonbeams, and the Daemon turns to regard an ape in silent contemplation.
