Sinopsis

It's 1975. The Millgarth Incident Room in Leeds is the epicentre of the biggest manhunt in British history, for one of the most notorious serial killers: the Yorkshire Ripper.
With public and political pressure mounting, hundreds of officers must work around the clock and resort to increasingly audacious attempts to end one man's campaign of terror.
Olivia Hirst and David Byrne's 'beautifully crafted' (Guardian) play goes behind the scenes to investigate the case that nearly broke the British police force.
The Incident Room was first performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2019, transferring to New Diorama Theatre, London, in 2020, ahead of an Off-Broadway run.
'The ingenuity of this piece is that it gives you a pacey, clock-ticking sense of what things were like' - Telegraph
'Tense and chilling' - Daily Mail
'Completely compelling to watch… intelligent, imaginative and, most of all, damn interesting' - The Stage

Sir William Schwenck Gilbert was an English dramatist, librettist, poet and illustrator best known for the fourteen comic operas (known as the Savoy operas) produced in collaboration with the composer Sir Arthur Sullivan. The most famous of these include H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and one of the most frequently performed works in the history of musical theatre, The Mikado.Gilbert also wrote the Bab Ballads, an extensive collection of light verse accompanied by his own comical drawings. His creative output included over 75 plays and libretti, numerous stories, poems, lyrics and various other comic and serious pieces. His plays and realistic style of stage direction inspired other dramatists, including Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw. According to The Cambridge History of English and American Literature, Gilbert's "lyrical facility and his mastery of metre raised the poetical quality of comic opera to a position that it had never reached before and has not reached since" - Summary by Wikipedia

Publisher’s Note:Two years ago, when we published Pranab Raha’s collection of essays ‘Akopat’, we promised the readers that we will bring more of his works in the future. Hence, we are pleased to bring you his second published audiobook ‘Charminar’.‘Charminar’ is a collection of four short and long stories by the author that are basically satirical in nature. In this book, he has brought out the subtle aspects of human character in a humorous approach. Like all his writings, these stories too, have an unspoken hidden message, that a sophisticated reader would have no difficulty in grasping. We hope that ‘Charminar’, like the author’s first book ‘Akopat’ published by us will be well received by the readers.Author’s Note:The intersection of time and technology has brought about some changes in the way people consume literature. Recognizing this change, I have published an audiobook of four stories, embracing this transformation. However, for enthusiastic readers, the printed hard copy of the book will also be made available very soon.Since the four stories are narrated by four different narrators in distinct styles, the stories do not possess the same qualities in all aspects.Nevertheless, if the stories provide an enjoyable listening experience, then the efforts and contributions of those involved in this endeavour, although somewhat limited, will be worthwhile.

This was the weekly poetry project for 3 June 2006. Many “character” poems cut straight to the inmost psychology of their subjects, but here, the eponymous Richard Cory with all his wealth and charm is viewed entirely from the outside. Indeed as the poem ends, we realise with an unforgettable shock just how little we, the narrator, or perhaps anyone really knew about him. (Summary by LauraFox)

Lenea Grace’s debut collection maps a series of relationships within a greater exploration of Canadiana, barreling through shield and crag, river and slag. A Generous Latitude is not afraid of beer, bears, internal rhyme, David Hasselhoff, sediment, or sentiment. It does, however, eschew sliding down lampposts, CBC sitcoms, McGarrigles, and the sentimental. Taking humor in the human condition, A Generous Latitude toys with juxtapositions of the serious with the silly, the irreverent with more somber realities. Music both teases and generates the poems within the collection. Here, Guy Lafleur’s hockey-disco hybrid album is on par with the Righteous Brothers and Fleetwood Mac. Here, “I’m not smoking and it’s not analog, / but at 2 a.m., it is always 1979.” A Generous Latitude takes a wild, peculiar joy in supplanting the expected with rich imagery that lights the mundane and “strips the Atlantic bare.”

Young soldier Grace, following a medical discharge from the army, faces a daunting return to the UK. She struggles to find her place, her people.
Post-conflict and in search of the friendship she's lost, Grace volunteers at a local community centre, bonding with other women. As her trust in the women grows, so does her confidence. She hasn't laughed like this for as long as she can remember, and she almost forgets she has a secret to keep.
But as the group starts taking action, Grace's secret becomes harder to hide, and the trust she has built begins to fray. Forced to question the very foundations of her beliefs, Grace finds herself back on the front line, but who is she fighting?
Patriotism, nativism and modern Britain collide in Nessah Muthy's devastating exploration of the UK today.
Heroine premiered at HighTide Festival 2017.
