  Few are those that have not heard of the fearsome Vikings and their daring exploits. These Northern seafarers, the scourge of the Middle Ages, left their mark on the world’s history in a grand fashion. Courageous, defiant, and driven by the desire for exploration, the Norsemen were the most feared of all Medieval conquerors. Many thought them invincible, and they held many struggling Christian nations in their sway. From Scotland, England, France, and Ireland, down to the shores of Spain and the Baltic, the Vikings left their undeniable mark. Brutal conquest was not the only tool of their trade: these men were able seafarers and great explorers. Vikings discovered and established colonies in the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, and North America. Many agree that they were the first to set foot in the land we know today as Canada. All in all, the Vikings hold a vital role in the history of the world. Who knows how our world would look today if it weren’t for these grand Norsemen?

  - Ruined self confidence 
  - Extreme weight loss or weight gain 
  - Uncharacteristic jealousy/ insecurity 
  - Feeling like you don’t know the difference between right and wrong 
  - Extreme paranoia (being turned into an obsessive detective) 
  - Endless, repetitive obsessive thinking about your ex 
  - Strange dreams 
  - Sudden inexplicable anxiety followed by rapid dips into depression 
  The list goes on…. 
  “NOBODY UNDERSTANDS!” 
  I hear this frustrated cry from abused people a lot. 
  Gaslighting is crazy-making, it makes you think that you’re actually going crazy. 
  Gaslighting is a way of hiding the abuse. 
  Gaslighting is lying with a goal. 
  The motive behind the gaslighting is to make you think that you’re crazy or that your memory doesn’t work right. So you can’t trust yourself and your perceptions of reality.

  Before the twentieth century ships when relied upon visual signaling, vessels beyond range of sight or a cannon shot, were blind, deaf, and dumb in the dark, making night battles at sea rare, and near always accidental. The introduction of certain technologies like the torpedo, the searchlight, radio, and then radar, transformed naval warfare by making night combat feasible and, in some cases, desirable.
