Sinopsis

Hello all and thank you for purchasing my book, which I hope will inspire you to read and write some poetry of your own.

My name is Dr. Daniel Simon Pierre. I am originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I was raised in Montreal, Canada and I’m now residing in the free state of Florida since July 1983.

My long journey as a writer started in 1987 in Albany, Georgia, while attending Turner Job Corps Center, Lockyear College, and Darton College. Unbeknown to me, when I started writing out of boredom, I never thought my ideas were good enough for someone to read or even that I would eventually become a writer someday.

Writing allows me to express my deepest thoughts and feelings as I lose myself in a big ocean of dreams, the twilight zone of words, or a blossoming garden of alphabets. The reason for these analogies is, perhaps like others, good and also hurtful personal things happened to me. Thus, writing and putting my feelings, emotions, and thoughts on paper allows me to express myself constructively, deal with the past, and overcome my burdens, hurtful times, and moments.

Indeed, I hope that while and after reading my books you will perhaps experience the joy, ecstasy, great feelings of well-being, and fulfillment that I experienced while putting my words on paper.

Seaweed and sunburn. The death of a fridge. A 'pie-faced' St George upstaged by the horse.

The English Summer confronts the illusions and paradoxes of history in poems that reimagine medieval anchorites and 18th-century follies, zombies and the Megabus.

This is a landscape populated by overcrowded urban bedsits and burnt-out country piles, where ghosts of the past are sensed beneath dual carriageways and old gods emerge from rotting bindweed.

Visceral and analytic at turns, Hopkins' startling collection probes at the undergrowth of English culture; a white-hot debut by a poet of singular vision.

In his numerous roles as groundbreaking poet, editor, translator, storyteller, and father of what he has called "the expressive men's movement," Bly remains one of the most hotly debated American artists of the past half century. In this new collection of poems, the National Book Award-winning poet explores the meaning of mature love in a sustained meditation on faithfulness, on the sustenance of intimacy, and on grief as the door to deep emotion.

    Life expectancy begins to fall

Is your retirement plan dying in the climate wars? Are you getting on with things in the meantime? In Life expectancy begins to fall, Tom Sastry asks how we normalise an apocalypse, taking us on a tour of bad coping strategies, unwelcome epiphanies, and striking reminders of what we still have.
Part-elegy and part-satire, these poems do not show you what to do in a crisis, nor do they promote the cliches of positive thinking that tell you how to be a good worker, an effective activist or a spiritual person. Instead, quietly and persuasively, Sastry develops a subtle meditation on hope. The poetry shows us as we mostly are, lost in the enormity of it all and busy with other things. Explore a world where 'pessimism is complicated by love' and optimism is found hiding in moments where 'nothing happens, in the most lavish way'.
