In this illustrated volume, an expert in arcane symbolism traces Masonic history from Ancient Egypt to the twentieth century through more than one hundred symbols.

The Freemasons have profoundly altered the course of history. Their belief in liberty and equality influenced both the French and American Revolutions, as evidenced in part by the symbols on our currency. In The Arcana of Freemasonry, first published in 1915, Albert Churchward weaves a tale of Masonry’s origins in ancient Egypt and its continuance through history—all told via Masonic symbols and symbolism.

From Egyptian history and Mayan relief work through Greek mathematicians, philosophers, and metaphysicians, Churchward traces the development of the most basic symbols of Freemasonry. He also reveals the hidden symbolism found in the signs and tools of modern Freemasonry and helps readers find hidden meanings in all areas of life from art and architecture to geometry and poetry.

We all know people who talk with their hands—but do they know what they’re saying with them? Our gestures can reveal and contradict us and express thoughts we may not even know we’re thinking. In Thinking with Your Hands, esteemed cognitive psychologist Susan Goldin-Meadow argues that gesture is vital to how we think, learn, and communicate. She shows us, for instance, how the height of our gestures can reveal unconscious bias or how the shape of a student’s gestures can track their mastery of a new concept—even when they’re still giving wrong answers. She compels us to rethink everything from how we set child-development milestones to what’s admissible in a court of law to whether Zoom is an adequate substitute for in-person conversation. Sweeping and ambitious, Thinking with Your Hands promises to transform the way we think about language and communication.

You intend to self-publish or have published a book or two. You’re not selling very well and wonder why not. You feel you should be doing something, but the thought of “marketing” gives you nightmares.
You don’t want to become one of these people shouting “Buy My Book!” on Twitter.
But you would still love to start selling some books, and pay some or even all of your bills with your writing income.
The good news is that this is ever more possible when self-publishing, if you set yourself up right.
This is where the three-year plan comes in.
The Three Year, No-Bestseller Plan For Making a Sustainable Living From Your Fiction has been a popular forum and blog post on the subject of career and audience building vs chasing sales and rankings of individual books.
People have long asked me if I’m going to turn the post into a book. The post itself is about 1500 words long, but it covers only an overview of the strategy and is intended for people who are already familiar with many of the tactics discussed. There is much I could add and explain in more detail.
    Enter the books!
Self-publishing Unboxed is a 101 guide to self-publishing and selling your self-published books, and it will show you:
    --The basics of self-publishing
--How to optimise your book’s listings
--How to decide which services to use (and how to pick scams!)
--How to decide what you need to spend your time on besides writing
--Easy and cheap ways to promote
    --And much more
It is ideal for people who are at the beginning of their publishing career, as well as those who have dabbled a bit, but are ready to take it seriously.
