Sinopsis

'Some Imagist Poets, 1916: An Annual Anthology' presents a curated collection of works that marks a pivotal moment in modernist poetry, encapsulating the imagist movement's core ethos of clarity, economy, and precision in language. Through a diverse range of poems, the anthology showcases the breadth and versatility of imagist poetry, demonstrating its significant departure from the verbosity of Victorian verse. Highlighting themes from the introspective to the observational, the collection offers readers a comprehensive exploration of human experience, rendered in sharp, vivid images that seek to evoke rather than explain. The inclusion of standout pieces underscores the anthology's role in defining imagist poetry's place in the early twentieth century's literary landscape. Drawing together contributions from Amy Lowell, John Gould Fletcher, Richard Aldington, D.H. Lawrence, H.D., and F.S. Flint, 'Some Imagist Poets, 1916' aligns with key historical and cultural movements of the time. These authors, diverse in their backgrounds yet united in their literary ambition, collectively propelled the imagist movement to the forefront of modernist poetry. Their distinct voices harmonize to enrich the anthology's thematic concerns, offering a multifaceted perspective on the imagist endeavor to strip poetry down to its most essential elements. This anthology is a must-read for scholars and enthusiasts of modernist literature. It presents an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the foundational texts of the imagist movement, drawn together in a single volume. For readers seeking to understand the evolution of modern poetry or explore its more nuanced expressions, 'Some Imagist Poets, 1916' serves as an invaluable resource. It not only educates but also inspires a deeper appreciation for the craft of poetry and the power of language when wielded with precision and intention.

”...a trans-mystical work of love and change...”—Ali Blythe, author of Hymnswitch

The mystics who coined the phrase ‘the way of affirmation’ understood the apocalyptic nature of the word yes, the way it can lead out of one life and into another. Moving among the languages of Christian conversion, Classical metamorphosis, seasonal transformation, and gender transition, Luke Hathaway tells the story of the love that rewired his being, asking each of us to experience the transfiguration that can follow upon saying yes—with all one’s heart, with all one’s soul, with all one’s mind, with all one’s strength ... and with all one’s body, too.

    Thin Black Road
    There’s a thin black road
    I have traveled many times.
    It leads to peace
    In so many ways.
It’s kind of hard to describe
    For the road’s oft unclear.
    It unfolds to me
    Like a lovely gift
    One word at a time.
Then, music fills in the gaps,
    Making worries fade away,
    As unexplainable peace pours in.
    There’s a thin black road
    It leads me to peace.
When good or ill tidings come
    To threaten my equilibrium,
    I will travel that road
    And return to peaceful calm.

A romantic-comedy-thriller about the heat of love and the magic of changing perspectives.
Lin Han and Jie Hui have exchanged 536 emails and 72 jpegs, though they've only just met. She's sure he's the man she could fall in love with, if only he'd do it first.
But Jie Hui's a little distracted. When his business partner gets shot, things start to get very complicated – especially when he realises his heart is broken.
Meanwhile, Madeleine finds herself falling for James, the most attractive man she's met in years. And the feeling seems to be mutual. It's just a pity he's the policeman questioning her about the shooting of her ex-boyfriend…

When banks and sandwich shops have more pride than we do, where can we go to be with our tribe?
It's 2022. There's a rainbow flag in every high-street window, and no lesbian bar. Enter The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs: a lesbian choir on a mission to unite a disparate and dwindling community. Led by a world-weary conductor, the choir flirt, gossip and attempt to sing their way onto the main stage at Pride.
But harmony is more easily dreamt than realised in this heart-warming musical comedy about love, queerness and belonging. Iman Qureshi's play The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs premiered at Soho Theatre, London, in 2022, as a co-production between Soho and Damsel Productions.
