“These Merovingians are said to be a dynasty of Frankish, priest-kings, with magical powers…..”

The whole history of the Holy Grail is linked inextricably with the mysterious family called the Merovingians. It was a name used in the blockbuster, The Matrix, because of the power the name holds. Why?

There are tales of mystery and magic, of wisdom and light and last but not least of all, descent from God himself via His Son, Jesus, and His supposed wife, Mary Magdalene.

Some even go so far as to say that the Merovingian’s were descended from an ultra-ancient race of fallen angels that spawned the globe, taking wisdom and knowledge with them as Atlantis sank.

The truth is that the line of Merovech was very special and worshipped the serpent. Their history is one of the most magical, mystical and murderous tales.

We will discover that their very bloodline was so special to a secret and sacred order or serpent worshippers, that their lives were in constant danger. That, and they held a dark secret that was twisted out of all recognition by the Christian Church.

Prepare to discover the real secret of the Da Vinci Code.

Expert writing advice from the editor of the Boston Globe bestseller, The Writer's Home Companion

Dissertation writers need strong, practical advice, as well as someone to assure them that their struggles aren't unique. Joan Bolker, midwife to more than one hundred dissertations and cofounder of the Harvard Writing Center, offers invaluable suggestions for the graduate-student writer. Using positive reinforcement, she begins by reminding thesis writers that being able to devote themselves to a project that truly interests them can be a pleasurable adventure. She encourages them to pay close attention to their writing method in order to discover their individual work strategies that promote productivity; to stop feeling fearful that they may disappoint their advisors or family members; and to tailor their theses to their own writing style and personality needs. Using field-tested strategies she assists the student through the entire thesis-writing process, offering advice on choosing a topic and an advisor, on disciplining one's self to work at least fifteen minutes each day; setting short-term deadlines, on revising and defing the thesis, and on life and publication after the dissertation. Bolker makes writing the dissertation an enjoyable challenge.

How do people talk about words? This work explores naming constructions such as This formation is called a "coral reef" that are used to introduce lexicalized concepts like coral reef through metalinguistic reference. Drawing on the theoretical foundations in philosophy of language as well as recent work in semantics and pragmatics, experimental evidence from corpus analyses and psycholinguistic experiments-including self-paced reading and eye-tracking data-uncover the linguistic and cognitive processes behind these naming constructions. Special attention is given to the use and processing of quotational constructions during reading. Bridging (psycho)linguistics and philosophy of language, this interdisciplinary work offers new insights into how people use quotational constructions to talk about language, and how readers interpret and process naming constructions with and without quotation marks.

The culture of contempt—the lust to wound perceived opponents who are seen not just as wrong but as evil—has become global in scope. Fed by the rise of “cheap speech” in media, seismic shifts in digital technology, and a boom industry based on selling outrage, people are increasingly unable to understand, much less dialogue with, their ideological rivals. The Catholic Church understands itself as the evangelizer of culture; yet this culture of contempt has evangelized much of the Church. A distressing range of Catholic media platforms and commentators have introduced the poison of contempt into the heart of Catholic life—and with exacting fidelity. In this timely and important new book, Vatican journalist and Crux Editor John L. Allen Jr. offers a bracing analysis of our fractured Catholic media landscape. Examining six case studies of the culture of contempt wounding the Church—four from around the globe, and two from the United States—Allen offers not only a sobering look at the direction Catholic media has headed, but an urgent call for it to change course.

Tucker Perkins’s Path to Zero shows how we can reverse climate change and create a cleaner environment for future generations by putting aside our biases and working together for change.
Climate catastrophe-inspired narratives like “Electrify Everything!” have a grip on people’s minds. The simplicity of the solution to the most complex endeavor ever faced by humans—the journey to a net zero future—is seductive, but it is fundamentally flawed.
In Path to Zero: 12 Climate Conversations That Changed the World, author Tucker Perkins takes listeners on a series of future-casting journeys from the year 2050 back to the present day to show us how a better way—a wide path to net zero carbon emissions—was, and can be, achieved in an accelerated time frame.
In this work, Perkins uncovers an array of practical, often obvious, measures the world can take to achieve a better, cleaner future inclusive of energy and power. Unlike other authors and voices of this age, Perkins shows us that change is possible, innovation is happening, and dogmatic devotion to singular solutions is one of the biggest impediments to progress.
