How powerful is the President of the United States? For many scholars, this is a question that can be answered only by considering factors outside the office itself, such as the president's popularity, personal clout, political talents, or institutional relationships.

In The Isolated Presidency, Jordan T. Cash reframes this question to instead ask what authority is available to all presidents. Drawing on the Constitution itself, Cash argues that the presidency possesses an internal logic derived from its structure, duties, and powers which not only grants the president a unique institutional perspective, but also provides the president with considerable agency and discretion in pursuing agendas.

To gain a clear view of how the Constitution creates a baseline of authority that is available to all presidents, Cash examines the "isolated presidents"—presidents who were unelected, faced divided government, and were opposed by major factions of their own political parties. Stripped of all external supports, these presidents were left with nothing but their constitutional authority to rely on. Through three case studies of isolated presidents, Cash illustrates how the Constitution creates an empowering logic within the presidency which orients presidential behavior and grants every president significant power and agency.

For decades, evidence of the 1978 murder of Gwendolyn Elaine Fogle lay in the evidence room at the Walterboro Police Department. Investigators periodically revisited the case over the years, but it remained the department's top cold case for thirty-seven years. Special Agent Lieutenant Rita Shuler worked on the case shortly after she joined the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and she couldn't let it go, not even after her retirement in 2001. In May 2015, Lieutenant Shuler teamed up with new investigator Corporal Gean Johnson, and together they uncovered key evidence that had been overlooked. With new advancements in DNA and fingerprint technology, they brought the case to its end in just four months. Join Shuler as she details the gruesome history of this finally solved case.

Sir Keir Starmer made the leap from Leader of the Opposition to Prime Minister in only four years, one of just a handful of politicians to have done so since 1945. Yet the landslide majority that Labour secured under him in July 2024 has been described as 'loveless' and his first months in Downing Street were overshadowed by rows and controversies, turning what should have been a political honeymoon into a period of sustained turbulence.
In this fully revised and updated edition of his 2021 biography, Michael Ashcroft traces how Starmer went from schoolboy socialist to radical lawyer and Director of Public Prosecutions before – aged fifty-two – becoming an MP, then Labour leader and ultimately the occupant of No. 10.
Revealing previously unknown details which help to explain what makes Starmer tick, this careful examination of Britain's first Labour Prime Minister for fourteen years offers voters the chance to assess his character and his political instincts. Having turned his party into an election-winning machine, his goal is to transform Britain into one of the most progressive states in the world. Does he have what it takes to succeed?

He walked on the face of the earth over 2000 years ago and changed human history for time and eternity. Nearly 2.4 billion Christians know him as Jesus Christ, Son of God, Son of Man and Savior of the world. Other billions recognize him as a great prophet and philosopher. Drawing from the four gospel accounts and using “sanctified imagination”, this book chronicles the incredible life of Jesus. It tells the story of His miraculous conception and birth; his childhood; his magnificent ministry with a band of 12 ordinary men and his death and glorious resurrection. This book presents an easy-to-read, novelized life of the most famous man that ever lived. It is written for Christians and non-Christians alike and tells the story of Jesus as the Son of Man, without diminishing his unique heritage as the Son of God. Perhaps when you get to know “The Man of Galilee”, you would also seek “The Prince of Peace.” If you know Jesus already, I hope this book will be an entertaining reminder of what he went through on behalf of all of us.
