Sinopse

Have you read Baruch?” La Fontaine used to cry, enthusiastically. To-day he would have troubled his friends with the question “Have you read Einstein?”
But, whereas one needs only a little Latin to gain access to Spinoza, frightful monsters keep guard before Einstein, and their horrible grimaces seem to forbid us to approach him. They stand behind strange moving bars, sometimes rectangular and sometimes curvilinear, which are known as “co-ordinates.” They bear names as frightful as themselves—“contravariant and covariant vectors, tensors, scalars, determinants, orthogonal vectors, generalised symbols of three signs,” and so on.
These strange beings, brought from the wildest depths of the mathematical jungle, join together or part from each other with a remarkable promiscuity, by means of some astonishing surgery which is called integration and differentiation.
In a word, Einstein may be a treasure, but there is a fearsome troop of mathematical reptiles keeping inquisitive folk away from it; though there can be no doubt that they have, like our Gothic gargoyles, a hidden beauty of their own. Let us, however, drive them off with the whip of simple terminology, and approach the splendour of Einstein’s theory.

Selecting the right bird and creating a comfortable living environment are crucial first steps in ensuring a happy and healthy life for your feathered companion. The process begins with understanding your own lifestyle and preferences, as this will help you choose a bird species that aligns with your needs. Birds vary widely in size, temperament, and care requirements. For example, small species like canaries and finches are low-maintenance and ideal for beginners, while parrots and cockatoos demand more attention and interaction due to their intelligence and social nature.
Once you’ve chosen your bird, setting up an appropriate home is the next essential step. A well-chosen cage serves as both a sanctuary and a playground for your bird, so it’s important to select one that suits its size and activity level. Smaller birds require less space but still benefit from a cage that allows for free movement, while larger species need ample room to stretch their wings and explore. The spacing between the bars should be appropriate for your bird’s size to ensure safety and prevent escapes.
Inside the cage, include essentials that will keep your bird comfortable and stimulated. Perches of varying diameters are necessary for maintaining foot health and simulating a natural environment. Food and water dishes should be easily accessible and kept clean at all times. Additionally, toys such as swings, bells, and chewable items are vital for mental stimulation and preventing boredom. Birds are intelligent and curious creatures, so rotating toys periodically will keep them engaged.

Diverticulitis and diverticular disease are conditions that affect the digestive system, specifically the colon. The colon is a crucial part of the digestive tract, where the body absorbs nutrients and water from food. Diverticulosis, the precursor to diverticulitis, occurs when small, bulging pouches, known as diverticula, form in the walls of the colon. These pouches develop when weak spots in the colon’s muscular layer give way under pressure, creating pockets where waste can accumulate. While diverticulosis is common, especially in individuals over the age of 40, it often goes unnoticed because it doesn’t typically cause symptoms.
However, when one or more of these pouches becomes inflamed or infected, it leads to diverticulitis. Diverticulitis can cause significant pain, particularly in the lower left side of the abdomen, and may be accompanied by fever, nausea, and changes in bowel habits, such as diarrhea or constipation. The severity of diverticulitis can vary, ranging from mild cases that can be treated with antibiotics and dietary changes to severe cases that may require hospitalization or surgery.
The causes of diverticulitis are still not fully understood, but several factors are believed to contribute to its development. One of the most significant factors is a low-fiber diet, which can lead to constipation and increased pressure within the colon. Other risk factors include aging, obesity, lack of physical activity, smoking, and certain medications, such as steroids or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Genetic predisposition may also play a role in the development of diverticular disease.
