A dazzling wedding. A grand estate. A murder no one saw coming.
Henrietta and Clive Howard are finally tying the knot—but family tensions and clashing expectations threaten to upend their plans. As the long-awaited day arrives, love is in the air—but so are complications. Elsie’s budding romance with Stanley is tested by the arrival of the dashing Lieutenant Harrison Barnes-Smith and Henrietta’s vivacious friend Rose—a situation that grows increasingly dark and confused as time goes on.
Clive and Henrietta begin their honeymoon at Castle Linley, Clive’s ancestral home in England, where Henrietta must adjust to a host of new relations—including the brooding Wallace Howard, heir to the estate. When a local man is found murdered in the nearby village, Wallace falls under suspicion, and Clive is reluctantly drawn into the investigation.
Together, Clive and Henrietta must navigate crumbling traditions, family secrets, and disturbing news from home—all while trying to prove Wallace’s innocence. But as they dig deeper into the case, they uncover truths that could shake the Linley legacy to its core.

Marianna Marsham is a highly successful businesswoman. She has no time for the aristocracy and they don't understand her commercial world. She has forged a privileged, influential life on her own merits after suffering tragedy and no man will succeed in taking it away.
Darfield Buchanan, Duke of Iversleigh has long ago given up caring about the gossips calling him the Duke of Ice. All he cares about is raising his illegitimate son in a loving home. How he is seen by the rest of the world is of little consequence to him.
When he is forced to take notice of his new neighbour, he expects her to be an ancient widow. The beautiful woman he is confronted by sweeps away all his preconceived notions of how those outside of elite society live.
But Marianna' expectations of the Duke are very different to his for her.

Originally published in the Strand Magazine between December 1894 and September 1903. The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard by Arthur Conan Doyle, the celebrated author of Sherlock Holmes and the Lost, follows the adventures of Brigadier Etienne Gerard, a courageous soldier in the service of Napoleon. From a sleepy cafe in Paris, he whiles away the hours recounting his glories in the service of France. From his victory over the Count of the Castle of Gloom, the mysterious affair of the Ajaccio Brothers and his daring escape from Dartmoor Prison to his brush with the dastardly Marshal Millefleurs and his successful conveying of the Emperors own despatches through the enemy held towns of Soison and Senlis. Gerard never wavers in his dedication to the Emperor, or his convictions that he is the finest soldier in all of france, and therefore, the world.Adapted into several films and radio dramas across the years, George McDonald Fraser once cited Brigadier Gerard as a major inspiration for his own fictional comedic adventurer Harry Flashman.Narrated by Michael Ward.

“Both the knowledge of a scholar and the imagination of a poet are brought to bear upon Jesus as child, boy, and man. . . . A bold speculative adventure” (Harold Brighouse, Manchester Guardian).   In Robert Graves’s unique retelling, Jesus is very much a mortal and the grandson of King Herod the Great. When his father runs afoul of the king’s temper and is executed, Jesus is raised in the house of Joseph the Carpenter. The kingdom he is heir to, in this version of the story, is very much a terrestrial one: the Kingdom of Judah. Graves tells of Jesus’s rise as a philosopher, scriptural scholar, and charismatic speaker in sharp detail, as well as his arrest and downfall as a victim of pitiless Roman politics.   Bringing together his unparalleled narrative skill and in-depth expertise in historical scholarship, renowned classicist and historical novelist Robert Graves brings the story of Jesus Christ to life in a strikingly unorthodox way, making this one of the most hotly contested novels Graves ever wrote—and possibly one of the most controversial ever written. It provides a fascinating new twist to a well-known story, one that fans of this historical period are sure to love.   “This is not reading for the easily shocked; it definitely presents Jesus as a sage and a [poet], if not divine. It moves, as does all Mr. Graves’ writing, at a brilliant fast pace, and with a tremendous style.” —Kirkus Reviews
