Summary

Charles Darwin's groundbreaking work of evolutionary biology, "The Origin of Species" introduces the scientific theory of evolution, which posits that species evolve over a period of many generations through a process of natural selection. Considered controversial even to this day because of its contradicting position to creationist theory, Darwin's theories have been widely embraced by the scientific community as fact and have laid the foundation for subsequent major advances in the field of biology. "The Origin of Species" is arguably one of the most important scientific treatises ever written.

Virtualization can take on many different forms: virtual memory, virtual servers, and virtualized storage. In each of these cases, we've been able to move beyond the underlying physical components that make up the system and through the use of clever virtualization techniques we've been able to get more out of the system. This is what we're going to explore in this book.
What You'll Find Inside:How Virtual Memory WorksWhy Bother With Virtualizing Servers?Server Virtualization In The Real WorldStorage Network Based Storage Virtualization
This book is divided into three sections. We are going to start out where all virtualization started: virtual memory. We'll then scale up and discuss how servers are virtualized. You can't have servers without storage, and so we'll then talk about how storage has been virtualized.
This is a rapidly evolving field. It our hope that by reading this book we can provide you with a firm foundation on which to understand what virtualization is and how it is being used to build networks that will be able to support today's applications. Using the foundation, we hope to be able to share with you the fundamental design approaches that are used to create a modern network and compare it to today's legacy networks.

Why do some inventors succeed and others fail? A private equity pioneer explores personal traits and processes that worked for thirty innovators—or didn’t.

Jeremy Coller, a pioneer in the world of private equity, argues that there are three basic personality types in the arena of invention. The Principal, Broker, and Consultant each display certain traits that dictate the potential for success, but few people have the full package. Failure results when an individual who excels in one area of competence attempts to become all things. Thus, even accomplished geniuses can end up penniless.

In Splendidly Unreasonable Inventors, Coller focuses on the individual rather than the invention—and explores the ways in which he or she did or did not succeed in bringing their vision to fruition. On one level, the book is a collection of fascinating stories packed with quirky, often humorous nuggets of information. On another level, these stories provide an unconventional look at the processes and personalities that created products that changed the world, including: Jonas Salk and the polio vaccineKing Gillette and the safety razorAlfred Nobel and dynamiteSam Colt and the revolverRudolph Diesel and the diesel engine, and more

Around 13.5 billion years ago, energy, time, matter and space had come to be known as the phenomenon of the Big Bang. The theory of the fundamental features of the universe is referred to as physics. Around 30,000 years when these features had appeared, energy along with matter had started the coalescing into various complex structures referred to as the atoms. These then combined themselves into bigger molecules. The theory of atoms along with molecules as well as its interaction is referred to as the chemistry. Some 3.8 billion years before, on some planet known as the Earth, several molecules had combined to result in some large and well-defined structures known as the organisms. The theory of the organisms is referred to as biology.
Around 70,000 years before, the organisms which belonged to the group homo sapiens had started forming even larger and elaborative structures known as the cultures. The development of these cultures is known as history.
