Sinopse

Growing up as an only child in Stornoway could have been seen as idyllic - to a child, the island was a 'safe haven' with no serious crime and many unspoiled white sandy beaches.
However, I discovered at the age of eight that I had been adopted from Glasgow. Although I knew that my parents loved me, very much, only one thing was missing from my life - a sister or brother to share my childhood fun.
In 2008, with my own family and a successful career behind me, I revived a latent need to find out about my birth mother. During my search I was dismayed to learn that she had emigrated to Australia in 1973 with her new family.
Along the way, I discovered more about my extended family - including my long desired siblings, their own lives and stories and the circumstances of my adoption.
Writing this book, the first part in my series, took me on such an emotional journey as memories of love and loss were rekindled.

In the vein of Erin Brockovich, The Departed, and T. J. English's Savage City comes Busted, the shocking true story of the biggest police corruption scandal in Philadelphia history, a tale of drugs, power, and abuse involving a rogue narcotics squad, a confidential informant, and two veteran journalists whose reporting drove a full-scale FBI probe, rocked the City of Brotherly Love, and earned a Pulitzer Prize .
In 2003, Benny Martinez became a Confidential Informant for a member of the Philadelphia Police Department's narcotics squad, helping arrest nearly 200 drug and gun dealers over seven years. But that success masked a dark and dangerous reality: the cops were as corrupt as the criminals they targeted.
In addition to fabricating busts, the squad systematically looted mom-and-pop stores, terrorizing hardworking immigrant owners. One squad member also sexually assaulted three women during raids. Frightened for his life, Martinez turned to Philadelphia Daily News reporters Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker.
Busted chronicles how these two journalists—both middle-class working mothers—formed an unlikely bond with a convicted street dealer to uncover the secrets of ruthless kingpins and dirty cops. Professionals in an industry shrinking from severe financial cutbacks, Ruderman and Laker had few resources—besides their own grit and tenacity—to break a dangerous, complex story that would expose the rotten underbelly of a modern American city and earn them a Pulitzer Prize. A page-turning thriller based on superb reportage, illustrated with eight pages of photos, Busted is modern true crime at its finest.

This is an inside look at the Autism journey by an adult with Autism. This exploration blurs the lines between narrative, memoir, and experimental fiction. Seven has a conversation with Autism personified while explaining his thoughts about the journey to adult diagnosis. The fourth wall is broken several times as Seven directly addresses the listener. Let’s take a ride behind the scenes and inside the mind of someone who lives through challenges everyday. This book is for everyone who feels disconnected or overwhelmed and who is yearning to be happy and whole, but who can’t leave their 9-to-5 job or spend a week meditating in the Berkshires.Unlike most books of this type, this is not about using spirituality to escape ordinary life and live with your head in the clouds. Rather, it’s about using spirituality to embrace ordinary life and realize how extraordinary it actually is. It’s a philosophy grounded in today’s reality. Enlightenment, as you’ll learn, is simply living moment to moment, amid all the usual nonsense, with awareness and appreciation unblemished by the past. You are capable of that. After all, even once you get all your wishes, there will always be the dishes. Let the unlikely guru show you the nine secrets to enjoying it all.

Warren Buffett is perhaps the most accomplished investor of all time. The CEO and chair of Berkshire Hathaway has earned admiration for not only his financial feats but also the philosophy behind them. Todd A. Finkle provides striking new insights into Buffett's career through the lens of entrepreneurship. This book demonstrates that although Buffett is thought of primarily as an investor, one of the secrets to his success has been running Berkshire as an entrepreneur.

Finkle—a Buffett family friend—shares his perspective on Buffett's early life and business ventures. The book traces the entrepreneurial paths that shaped Buffett's career, from selling gum door-to-door during childhood to forming Berkshire Hathaway and developing it into a global conglomerate through the imaginative deployment of financial instruments and creative deal making. Finkle considers Buffett's investment methodology, management strategy, and personal philosophy on building a rewarding life in terms of entrepreneurship. He also zeroes in on Buffett's longtime business partner, Charlie Munger, and his contributions to Berkshire's success. Finkle draws key lessons from Buffett's mistakes as well as his successes, using these failures to explore the ways behavioral biases can affect investors and how to overcome them.
