Sinopsis

Winner of a 2025 CMA Book Award from the Catholic Media Association: Healing and Self Help (First Place).Hurts experienced in our youth, be they traumas or trials, might get stowed away, yet our inner child remembers. It doesn’t matter how much time passes or how mature we become; such hurts can eventually cause friction in our daily lives, casting a long shadow over our relationships with ourselves, our loved ones, and our God.Written in a compassionate and pastoral tone by licensed marriage and family therapist Brya Hanan, Befriending Your Inner Child: A Catholic Approach to Inner Healing invites you to venture deep into your heart and befriend your hurts, emotional wounds, and childish behavior—or in the world of psychotherapy, your “inner child”—to reclaim your truest self, experience inner wholeness and healing, and strengthen your relationship with God and others.Part one of the book explains why it is essential to befriend your inner child as well as the wounds and self-protections that this “child within” holds. Through this discovery, you will learn how to transform your deepest hurts into opportunities for healing and integration. Part two of the book offers practical tools to tend to your inner child compassionately.Through Hanan’s practical “5 A’s,” you will learn how toanchor yourself in God and in your God-given body;acknowledge your feelings and where you notice them showing up in your body;attune to your deepest wounds, core beliefs, and distressing feelings;ask God to show you what you need and how to participate in his healing work; andact consistently with loving compassion toward yourself.Hanan vulnerably shares her own journey of “reparenting” her inner child with God and offers additional case studies from her clinical practice that highlight how different life stories and life stages can respond to befriending their inner child. Each chapter includes charts, lists, and “Befriend Work” exercises that challenge readers to reflect further on the content. If you long to experience more fulfillment and wholeness, this book is for you.

What is his action with regard to war and the whole world?Q: What is the significance of mankind in the universe, or in the ‘ground’?‘Y’ is concerned with ‘Show me, prove it to me, what benefit it has, will I get my future...’ And he is looking at ‘X’ with the eyes that are so accustomed to this pettiness. He reduces that immensity to his pettiness and puts it in a temple, and has therefore lost it completely. But there is something so immense that ‘X’ says, ‘Please do look at this,’ and ‘Y’ translates this into, ‘Show it to me, prove it to me. Will I have a better life?’‘X’ brings light. Mary Wollstonecraft is widely hailed as the mother of modern feminism. The book that made her famous, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, is a work of worldwide renown. Yet the range of her achievements as a thinker and writer reach far beyond this text. She was a multi-faceted author, and although the condition of women was a constant preoccupation throughout her life, she wrote on a wide variety of topics and in a range of literary forms, some of which she created herself.

This Very Short Introduction examines the conditions for Wollstonecraft's emergence as a feminist, but also her status as an educator, a political thinker, and a romantic. E. J. Clery also considers the reception Mary Wollstonecraft has received over the last two centuries and argues that listeners need to look at her gamut of activities anew in the twenty-first century.

While working in the Chester household as a governess, the innocent Clara becomes sexually involved with Herbert Chester, her employer. Then, when the beautiful Catherine, Herbert's sister-in-law and secret lover, comes to stay at the house, Catherine introduces Clara into the pleasures of being with a woman.  On learning how the women are enjoying each other, Herbert encourages them into a threesome with him. This spurs jealousy in Catherine, however, and Clara is dismissed.
Now sexually awakened and excited by life in London, Clara has no desire to return to work as a governess and contemplates what form of employment best suits her ambitions. Her friend, Anna Quinlan, suggests the ideal solution. Anna is Madame Q and runs The Nunnery, an exclusive brothel catering only to the most select clientele. Tempted by a generous salary, room, board, freedom and independence, will Clara accept and become one of Madame Q's ladies of pleasure?

Civil Wars - A Very Short...

Civil wars are the most common form of large-scale political violence. In the past thirty years, the study of civil wars has been one of the largest growing segments of the international relations field. Their causes are complex, ranging from fights over access to housing, jobs, and land or other resources, to political contests over offices, rights, and representation. Groups form, collapse, coalesce, align and realign, and then fight amongst themselves. Governments themselves change through elections, coups, military defeats, or revolutions. Understanding the origins of civil wars and their trajectories therefore demands some appreciation of the economic, political, social, cultural, and geographic order of societies. If there is one factor that best predicts why a civil war erupts, it is a prior civil war. That is why knowledge of a country's history of political violence, and associated narratives about who is to blame and why, are critical to understanding where a civil war might next occur. We now have a better understanding of the conditions under which civil wars generally emerge, how the fighting evolves, and how civil wars end. However, historical understanding—the human dimensions—remain every bit as critical. This book explores current debates on civil wars and how the reasons for fighting (and the nature of belligerents themselves) are changing.
