In 'Things We Never Got Over' by Lucy Score, Knox, a solitary barber who prefers a drama-free life, has his world disrupted when a runaway bride named Naomi shows up in his rough-around-the-edges town of Knockemout, Virginia. Naomi's mission is to rescue her estranged twin sister, Tina, who's as troublesome as ever. After Tina leaves her with an unexpected niece to care for, Naomi is stuck in town with no car, no job, and no plan. Knox, despite his aversion to complications and high-maintenance women, decides to help her out.
