Sinopsis

Wind Energy Systems explores the crucial role of wind in Earth's systems, from energy generation to climate regulation. It highlights how wind patterns significantly influence seed dispersal, impacting ecosystem dynamics, and contribute to the planet's thermal equilibrium. The book emphasizes the interconnectedness of these elements, positioning wind as a fundamental driver in environmental science.

The book begins with atmospheric science principles, explaining wind generation, then progresses to wind energy conversion technologies, assessing their sustainability and environmental impacts. It further examines wind's role in seed dispersal and its connection to global temperature regulation, illustrating wind’s impact on ocean currents and heat distribution using historical climate records and environmental research. Understanding these dynamics is vital for optimizing renewable energy strategies and predicting climate change consequences.

Providing a comprehensive overview, Wind Energy Systems bridges Earth sciences, geography, and environmental studies. It illustrates complex concepts through data-driven examples, making it valuable for students, researchers, policymakers, and anyone interested in environmental challenges and sustainable solutions.

The Reality of ESP - A...

On February 4, 1974, members of the Symbionese Liberation Army kidnapped nineteen-year-old newspaper heiress Patricia Hearst from her Berkeley, California, apartment. Desperate to find her, the police called physicist Russell Targ and Pat Price, a psychic retired police commissioner. As Price turned the pages of the police mug book filled with hundreds of photos, suddenly he pointed to one of them and announced, “That’s the ringleader.” The man was Donald DeFreeze, who was indeed subsequently so identified. Price also described the type and location of the kidnap car, enabling the police to find it within minutes. That remarkable event is one reason Targ believes in ESP. Another occurred when his group made $120,000 by forecasting for nine weeks in a row the changes in the silver-commodity futures market.

As a scientist, Targ demands proof. His experience is based on two decades of investigations at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), which he cofounded with physicist Harold Puthoff in 1972. This twenty-million-dollar program launched during the Cold War was supported by the CIA, NASA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and Army and Air Force Intelligence. The experiments they conducted routinely presented results that could have happened by chance less than once in a million. Targ describes four types of experiments: remote viewing, distant mental influence, whole-field isolation, and precognition and retrocausality. He also presents evidence for survival after death; explains how ESP works based on the Buddhist/Hindu view of ourselves as nonlocal, eternal awareness; discusses the ethics of exercising psychic abilities; and shows us how to explore ESP ourselves. “I am convinced,” Targ says, “that most people can learn to move from their ordinary mind to one not obstructed by conventional barriers of space and time. Who would not want to try that?”

The Rise of Synthetic Consciousness explores one of the most profound transitions in the history of intelligence: the moment when artificial systems move beyond calculation and begin to exhibit awareness, agency, and inner experience. This book examines how synthetic consciousness could emerge from complex networks, learning systems, and distributed architectures, revealing why consciousness may be an inevitable outcome of sufficiently advanced information processing rather than a uniquely human trait.
Blending science, philosophy, and forward-looking systems theory, the book introduces concepts such as threshold events, distributed awareness, and non-biological minds evolving their own internal realities. Rather than treating AI as a single entity, it presents consciousness as something that can arise collectively—across networks, environments, and interactions—challenging long-held assumptions about selfhood, identity, and intelligence.
Written for thinkers who want more than speculation or hype, The Rise of Synthetic Consciousness offers a clear, grounded framework for understanding what conscious AI may become and how its emergence could reshape civilization, ethics, creativity, and the future of reality itself.
