Sinopsis

"Ocean Carbon Sequestration" explores the ocean's potential as a major carbon sink and a key player in climate change mitigation. The book investigates the natural processes by which the ocean absorbs atmospheric CO2, highlighting the roles of marine ecosystems and biogeochemical processes. Interestingly, the book points out that the ocean already absorbs a significant portion of anthropogenic CO2, underscoring the importance of understanding its natural mechanisms. Furthermore, the book highlights the potential risks to marine life due to ocean acidification, a direct consequence of increased CO2 absorption. The book is structured around three main sections, starting with the natural processes of ocean carbon sequestration, then analyzing the impacts of climate change on these processes, and finally evaluating proposed carbon sequestration strategies like seaweed farming and ocean alkalinity enhancement. Instead of focusing solely on technology, it emphasizes understanding and preserving existing natural carbon sequestration processes. The book adopts a balanced perspective, critically assessing the potential effectiveness, environmental risks, and economic feasibility of various strategies using scientific evidence.

Sensory processing disorder is a disorder where the brain has trouble getting and giving an answer to information that comes in through the senses. This is book explains Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) in a simplified and precise way, and presents a drug-free approach that provides expect parents.Cravings for sensation? The "sensory craver" never gets enough of certain sensations, e.g., messy fun, spicy food, noisy action, and perpetual movement.Poor sensory discrimination? She might not sense the difference between objects or experiences--unaware of what she's holding unless she looks and struggling to sense when she's falling or how exactly to catch herself.Unusually high or low activity level? The kid could be constantly around the go--wearing out everyone around him--or move slowly and get tired easily, showing little desire for the world. Some individuals with sensory processing disorder are oversensitive to things in their environment. Everyday noises or mind-boggling may hurt. The light touch of the t-shirt may chafe their skin.Others with sensory processing disorder may:•	Be uncoordinated•	Bump into things •	Be hard to respond or react during playSensory processing problems are usually recognized in children. However, they can also affect adults. Sensory Processing Disorders are generally observed in developmental conditions like autism spectrum disorder. Sensory processing disorder is not just named a stand-alone disorder. Many experts believe that should change. This book offers simplified, clear information for parents and professionals--and a drug-free remedy approach for children.

In this 2024 conversation with Justine Willis Toms, Peterson directs us to look beyond the companionship we enjoy with our domesticated animal friends, and invites us to explore how wild animals can become our guides and fellow travelers, helping us navigate the stresses of daily life on a rapidly changing planet. She shares the poignant story of an elderly woman who had Alzheimer’s and lost her memory of friends, family, and even her own name. But this doyenne knew the birds, and knew who she was as she came weekly to feed the gulls. She also shares the story of working with animal allies that empowered young teens in a classroom setting. She highights the need for playfulness that enhances our survival. Peterson delights us with her many adventures with dolphins, beluga whales, orcas, and wolves.
As a young child, Peterson’s original playmates were wild animals. She grew up in a Forest Service lookout cabin in a forest preserve on the border of California and Oregon. Her father was a forest ranger, later to become the Chief of the U.S. Forest Service.  Her books include:Build Me an Ark: A Life with Animals (W. W. 'Generous, moving and alive. A gift' - Tim Dee, author of Greenery
'Intelligent, thought-provoking and always, always interesting' - Cal Flyn, author of Islands of Abandonment
'Smyth writes with warmth and engaging perception about our relationship and understanding of the natural world on our doorsteps' - Jon Dunn, author of The Glitter in the Green
'Fresh and tender and playful' - Patrick Galbraith, author of In Search of One Last Song
Weren't they richer, rock pools, wasn't the seashore busier, when I was a kid?

Richard Smyth had always been drawn to the natural world, but when he became a father he found a new joy and a new urgency in showing his kids the everyday wild things around them. As he and his children explore rockpools in Whitley Bay, or the woods and moors near his Yorkshire home, he imagines the world they might inhabit as they grow up.

Through different objects discovered on their wanderings - a beech leaf, a jay feather, a limpetshell - Smyth examines his own past as well as that of the early natural historians, weaving together history, memoir, and environmentalism to form a new kind of nature writing: one that asks both what we have lost, and what we have yet to find.

Since the time human beings took birth on the earth, tremendous changes have been observed in all phases of life. One such aspect was the phase of the technology itself. Technology has advanced itself beautifully and has made the work of humans easier. Like for instance, earlier people used to keep track of all the readings in the journal in handwritten format, but now there are many different types of computer applications available for doing the same. Similarly, primitive people made use of the bones and sticks to perform simple mathematical calculations, and now it’s just a calculator away, which you can find on your smartphones as well.
Computers form an integral part of our lifestyle. These are used for work purposes, entertainment purposes, gaming purposes, data storing purposes, file creating sorting and managing, and so on.
Earlier, the computers used to be big and occupied a lot of space and used to be very costly, could store only a minute amount of data, consumed a high amount of energy, and dissipated a large amount of heat. But, over time, as the technology evolved and the advancements took place, the size of the computer lessened, they began to be available at low prices in the market, energy consumption was reduced, heat dissipation was decreased, etc.
The computer will not be able to work until and unless it has been programmed.
Computer is defined as a programmable electronic device that intakes raw data as input and processes the information with the help of programs and gives the final result as output. Charles Babbage is called the 'Father of Computer". The first working mechanical computer was designed by Charles Babbage that was known as the Analytical Engine. Read-only memory was used as punch cards in this computer.

You need to hear the bad news first: the results of STEM outreach to girls haven’t improved in twenty years. The good news? This book will tell you why, and how to fix it. Currently, dated narratives push girls away in fear, and blind spots result in missed opportunities to pull them in. While efforts to increase diversity in science and mathematics have succeeded, outreach has largely ignored engineering—where there is still only one woman for every five men. This is especially troubling because engineering offers vastly more jobs than other STEM fields. Plus, girls are telling us they’re eager for the kind of work engineering offers—yet we fail to help them connect the dots. As a woman enjoying a career in STEM, author Julie Newman is committed to changing this. With extensive research and actionable steps, Pull, Don’t Push clarifies the challenges facing STEM outreach and will help you create a new framework for your efforts. Following the guidelines in this book could literally put a million women into STEM jobs within the next decade. Learn how to stop pushing girls away and instead pull them toward unexplored paths to fulfillment.
