Workbook on Little Fires Everywhere: A Novel by Celeste Ng | Discussions Made Easy

Little Fires Everywhere is the second best-selling novel by author Celeste Ng. Set in the town of Shaker Heights, Little Fires Everywhere is a story about privilege, motherhood, the weight of secrets, and how easily things can start to unravel even when you think you are doing everything right.
It is no coincidence that Celeste Ng herself grew up in Shaker Heights with her parents and sister. Ng’s parents immigrated from Hong Kong to America in the 1960s. She was raised in a family of science lovers as her father worked for NASA and her mother was a research chemist. Even Ng’s sister would later become an engineer. Ng, however, always loved to write and so she followed her passion.

To avoid the traps of bias and irrationality and make better, productive decisions, we need to stop thinking in disciplines—and start thinking in graphs.
Why do we feel confident as novices but question ourselves as experts? What makes some achievements feel more deserving than others? Do we really get happier the more wealth we accumulate? How do stress levels impact our productivity?
Every day, we are overwhelmed by multitudes of choices and challenges—some clear and intuitive, while others are shaped beyond the scope of our awareness. To predict and overcome them, experts have devised multitudes of complicated principles and disciplines to explain everything from how we feel to why we act.
The Art of Thinking in Graphs offers a revolutionary approach to personal growth by distilling complex concepts from all walks of life into visually compelling graphs, making them not only accessible but practical and applicable for everyone.
As you navigate through 52 carefully curated graphs, you will uncover the hidden forces that influence your thoughts, decisions, and behaviors, including:
The Dunning-Kruger Effect – Pareto’s Law (The 80/20 principle) – Decision Fatigue – Loss Aversion – The Bystander Effect – The Law of Diminishing Returns – The Yerkes-Dodson Law – Happiness-Income Correlation – and more.
With insights drawn from psychology, sociology, economics, philosophy, and more, The Art of Thinking in Graphs bridges the gap between academic research and practical application. Whether you are a lifelong learner, a professional seeking to enhance your performance, or someone on a quest for deeper self-awareness, this visually driven guide will equip you with the tools to navigate your life with greater clarity and purpose.

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; And therefore is wing'd Cupid painted blind. Nor hath love's mind of any judgment taste; Wings and no eyes figure unheedy haste: And therefore is love said to be a child, Because in choice he is so oft beguil'd.

Appointments to the United States Supreme Court are now central events in American political life. However, this has not always been the case. As late as the middle of the twentieth century, presidents invested little time and effort in finding and vetting nominees. Media coverage was desultory, public opinion was largely non-existent, and the justices often voted independently and erratically.

In Making the Supreme Court, Charles M. Cameron and Jonathan P. Kastellec show how the growth of federal judicial power from the 1930s onward inspired a multitude of groups struggling to shape judicial policy. Over time, some groups moved beyond lobbying the Court to changing who sits on it. Other groups formed expressly to influence appointments. These activists and organized groups penetrated the national party system so that after about 1980, presidential candidates increasingly pledged to select and confirm nominees who conformed to specific policy and ideological litmus tests. Once in office, these presidents reshaped the executive selection system to deliver on their promises. As Cameron and Kastellec argue, the result is a new politics aimed squarely at selecting and placing judicial ideologues on the Court. They make the case that this new model gradually transformed how the Court itself operates, turning it into an ideologically driven and polarized branch.

How to start an Amazon Author account and Publish your first Amazon eBook is a practical reference guide for those who do not yet have Amazon Author accounts. There are many shortcuts that even experienced Authors, who already use Amazon Author accounts, do not use though they know about those. Many Authors do not have Kindle readers app. Many readers and especially Amazon shoppers have a lot to share with their friends, coworkers, and generally to the world. In front of your computer screen, opening the browser, is the best use of this guide, with the step-by-step guidance and illustrations. Using social media is fine but having an authored book on a bookshelf at home, and forwarding an eBook to friends and followers, is a different thing. A memoir, a set of letters written years ago, a story of events that took place, or fiction, or fantasy, or a family photo album. Many things deserve publication. Royalties from sales of authored books can be significant. There is also name recognition and sharing your story with the World, leaving a cultural heritage to the future generations. This all starts with setting up an Amazon Author account. (No artificial intelligence (AI) input was used to write this reference guide.)

As algorithms become increasingly adept at accessing the human mind, they also become more and more powerful at controlling it, enticing us to buy a certain product or vote for a certain political candidate. Some of us say this technological trend is no big deal. Others consider it one of the greatest threats to humanity. But what if the truth is more nuanced and mind-bending than that?

In Mindmasters, Columbia Business School professor Sandra Matz reveals in fascinating detail how big data offers insights into the most intimate aspects of our psyches and how these insights empower an external influence over the choices we make. This can be creepy, manipulative, and downright harmful, with scandals like that of British consulting firm Cambridge Analytica being merely the tip of the iceberg. Yet big data also holds enormous potential to help us live healthier, happier lives—for example, by improving our mental health, encouraging better financial decisions, or enabling us to break out of our echo chambers.

With passion and clear-eyed precision, Matz shows us how to manage psychological targeting and redesign the data game.
