Memoirs which cover three decades of the second half of the twentieth century, and the first years of the new millennium. Private life of the people in their thirties, their ways to earn money abroad and in Poland, their family ties, and their loved ones. The book describes the changes Poland underwent in the decades from the 1970-ties to the turn of the century.
The principal characters include the authoress and her friends, many of whom she has known since her childhood, their boyfriends and families. The historical background describes the birth of the Solidarity movement, martial law, and the peaceful transition from communism to democracy in Poland.
The real-life episodes include many funny situations. They describe our efforts to earn enough money to buy a new car, a Fiat 126 p, which was a great challenge in those days, turning one gas ration card per buyer into a thick pack which supported our driving free as often as we wished and as far as we needed, and a variety of jobs we did to get paid in "real" money" abroad.
The countries we found seasonal jobs in included Sweden, Switzerland and England. One of us worked in the USA. Fortunately, working abroad did not mean "sweat and tears" only. It also gave us a lot of opportunities to do the sightseeing and visit many places of interest and tourist attractions. It happened in Sweden, thanks to picture selling business, for example.
Bruce Miller, a professional reviewer, wrote at the beginning of his review: "Five Stars
I enjoyed reading "Even the Bad Times Are Good” by Zofia Puszkarow and in my opinion, this author has created a very entertaining compilation of true-life stories in Poland during the last three decades of the 20th Century that are captivating, intriguing, humorous, emotional, and remarkably entertaining.

An informative springboard from which to dive deep into the rich and illustrious heritage of the county steeped in the legend of King Arthur.

Every inch of legendary Somerset is imbued with history, from the towns of Dunster and Taunton in the west, to those of Shepton Mallet and Frome in the east; while also contained within its county boundaries are the cities of Bath and Wells and the mystical and magical Isle of Avalon: Glastonbury.

The county, located in southwest England and part of the Ancient Kingdom of Wessex, has played a significant role in many of the nation’s most formative events. These include the Roman occupation, Alfred the Great’s rise to power, the English Civil War and the Monmouth Rebellion.

And all this epoch-making activity has been played out against a landscape of dramatic and breathtaking beauty, from vast tracts of land such as Exmoor, hill ranges such as Mendip and Blackdown and an abundance of incredible rivers, lakes and streams; many situated within the famous Somerset Levels.

Wordsworth, Coleridge and Austen, among many others, have immortalized the county in literature, while everyone from the Celts, Cavaliers and Saxons, to the Roundheads, Romans and rebels have fought over its sought-after resources.

The authors, both living in Somerset, guide you on a fascinating and illuminating trip into the past of this most historical and legendary of counties, which boasts among its attractions the last battle fought upon English soil, the scene of the Bloody Assizes and the final resting place of King Arthur.

Adapted from Decoded, Meltzer’s hit show on the History network, History Decoded explores fascinating, unexplained questions. Is Fort Knox empty? Why was Hitler so intent on capturing the Roman ‘Spear of Destiny'? What’s the government hiding in Area 51? Where did the Confederacy’s $19 million in gold and silver go at the end of the Civil War? And did Lee Harvey Oswald really act alone? Meltzer sifts through the evidence; weighs competing theories; separates what we know to be true with what’s still—and perhaps forever—unproved or unprovable; and in the end, decodes the mystery, arriving at the most likely solution. Along the way we meet Freemasons, Rosicrucians, Nazi propagandists, and the real DB Cooper.
