A revelatory and wide-ranging exploration of HMS Britannic—her life at sea and on the seabed—by the owner of her wreck.

Launched in 1914, two years after the ill-fated voyage of her sister ship, RMS Titanic, the Britannic was intended to be superior to her tragic twin in every way. But war intervened and in 1915 she was requisitioned as a hospital ship. Just one year later, while on her way to collect troops wounded in the Balkans campaign, she fell victim to a mine laid by a German U-boat and tragically sank in the middle of the Aegean Sea.

There her wreck lay, at a depth of 400 feet, until it was discovered fifty-nine years later by legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau. In 1996 the wreck was bought by the author of this book, Simon Mills.

Exploring the Britannic tells the complete story of this enigmatic ship: her construction, launch and life, her fateful last voyage, and the historical findings resulting from the exploration of the well-preserved wreck over a period of forty years. This book finally details how the mysteries surrounding the 100-year-old enigma were laid to rest, and what the future might also hold for her.

A Croft in the Hills captures, in simple, moving descriptions, what it was really like trying to make a living out of a hill croft near Loch Ness fifty years ago. A couple and their young daughter, fresh from city life, immerse themselves in the practicalities of looking after sheep, cattle and hens, mending fences, baking bread, and surviving the worst that Scottish winters can throw at them.

Their neighbors are few, but among them they find the generosity and community spirit that has survived in the Highlands for generations. Working as a tight family unit, they learn to cope, and in time grow to love their little croft. As Neil Gunn writes in his Foreword, their lives gain extra dimensions that 'give the book its unusual quality, its brightness, and its wisdom'.

**The fully revised edition of Rupert Sheldrake's controversial science classic, from the author of the bestselling Dogs That Know When Their Owners are Coming Home, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2021!**

After chemists crystallised a new chemical for the first time, it became easier and easier to crystallise in laboratories all over the world. After rats at Harvard first escaped from a new kind of water maze, successive generations learned quicker and quicker. Then rats in Melbourne, Australia learned yet faster. Rats with no trained ancestors shared in this improvement.

Rupert Sheldrake sees these processes as examples of morphic resonance. Past forms and activities of organisms, he argues, influence organisms in the present through direct connections across time and space.Individual plants and animals both draw upon and contribute to the collective memory of their species.

Sheldrake, now Director of the Perrott-Warwick Project supported by Trinity College, Cambridge, reinterprets the regularities of nature as being more like habits than immutable laws. Described as 'the best candidate for burning there has been for many years' by Nature on first publication, this updated edition will raise hackles and inspire curiosity in equal measure.

To many people, trauma is something that happens to soldiers and refugees, far away and out of sight. But in fact, trauma is the single greatest threat to public health and well-being that America has ever seen. As humans, we are exposed to a horde of trauma, from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, to neglect, accidents, and the list can go on and on. And while the naked eye can see the immediate effects of that trauma, it is usually the long-term trauma we carry that bogs us down and infects every aspect of our lives, whether we are aware of it or not.
Workbook: The Body Keeps the Score not only does it provide all of van der Kolk's teachings about trauma in a clear, comprehensive, and condensed manner—without missing anything important!—but it also allows you to delve deeper into the book's concepts and explore your own personal journey with trauma while prompting you to take action to create a lasting impact.
You will get:The latest research on psychiatric theory and practice from the world's leading trauma specialist.Insights into the different methods of treatment, including skills and tools for healing trauma.Comprehensive yet simplified and straightforward chapter-by-chapter summaries, each ending with concise key takeaways. An immersive experience that will bridge the gap between the book's teachings and your own life.
    …and more!
The messages in this book contain information for everyone; for the fight against trauma to be successful, it needs to be a collective effort. Don't miss out on the wisdom and awareness this book offers. Let's all work toward creating a trauma-free generation.
