  "The Five Precepts are designed to discipline and purify the three avenues of human action-body, speech, and mind. Abstention from killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct disciplines bodily action. Abstention from false speech disciplines verbal action. It is also expected under this fourth precept that one should refrain from slander, abusive speech and frivolous talk. The dual discipline of body and speech has a salutary effect on the purity of mind, though complete mental purity can be brought about effectively only through bhavana, mental culture or meditation. The fifth precept against the use of intoxicants attempts to safeguard the mental faculty from degenerating through a bad habit. A man under the influence of intoxicants has no control over himself, and thus is easily tempted to transgress the four other precepts as well. ... 
   
  Conflicts, terrorism and wars have to be understood as the external manifestations of the internal disharmony of man. Man thinks violent thoughts, therefore there is violence in society. The corrupt mind brings suffering in its wake. This is an eternal truth. If happiness is what we yearn for, we have to entertain wholesome thoughts and act with wholesome thoughts; then happiness will follow effortlessly like a shadow. To train the mind for wholesome thoughts and healthy attitudes, our physical and verbal activities must be disciplined, and this is exactly what the Five Precepts do. They control our destructive potentials and humanise the predatory animal in us.

  Ram Krishna Das Vaishnaba, or Dude Dehari Baba, or Milk Baba was so named because he lived forty-five years entirely on one small cup of milk per day. No other food ever passed his lips. Baba lived in a small room by the Bagmati river at Pashiputinath temple, five kilometers outside of Katmandu. His beautiful matted hair, or jata, was over twenty-six feet long. Baba was a lifelong devotee of Lord Rama and God Brother and confidant of Neem Karoli Baba, the iconic guru of Baba Ram Das. Lord Rama, also known as Ramachandra, is the seventh avatar of Krishna, one of his most popular incarnations along with Parshurama, and Gautama Buddha. Rama was born to Kaushalya and Dasharatha in Ayodhya, the ruler of the Kingdom of Kosala. Dude Baba was always chanting the name of Rama and was a master musician and great singer of bhajans. In 1993 he met American devotee author Jagannatha Dasa and subsequently travelled to his farm community in Lockport, New York for a six-month residency at the SRI ashram there. While there Dasa arranged for Baba to begin a mammoth two week recording session with a host of popular Indian musicians in order to get his collected bhajans down on tape for posterity. Recorded too were several inspirational lectures. Here then is the fruit of a lifetime spent as an ardent servant of Lord Rama and liberating transcendental vibrations of a pure devotee.

  Leviathan

  Leviathan is a book written by Thomas Hobbes and published in 1651. It is one of the most important works in political philosophy and is considered a cornerstone of modern political thought. 
  The main argument of Leviathan is that humans are fundamentally selfish and violent, and that without a strong government to control them, they would inevitably descend into a state of chaos and conflict. Hobbes famously characterized this state as "the war of all against all." 
  In order to avoid this scenario, Hobbes argued that individuals must surrender their natural rights to a sovereign authority. This sovereign, which Hobbes called the Leviathan, would have absolute power to enforce its will upon the people, and in exchange would provide them with security and protection. 
  Hobbes believed that the ideal form of government was an absolute monarchy, where the sovereign's power was not limited by any laws or institutions. He argued that any attempt to limit the power of the sovereign would be doomed to failure, as it would only lead to the re-emergence of the state of nature and the breakdown of society. 
  Leviathan is also notable for its contributions to social contract theory, which argues that individuals enter into a contract with their government in order to protect their rights and maintain order in society. Hobbes' social contract theory was influential in the development of political thought and continues to be studied and debated today.
